Wasn't there a series 1 xj6 in the air fix range too?

Not that I can remember, but there might have been in the Hellers.  Airfix did do the model before, the 420.

My thoughts precisely. Let's post everything here and let the kit thread RIP.

The miniature shite on eBay thread should deffo  be over here, though.

I must be completely out of touch with the price of things these days. A guy on the market today was flogging old Matchboxes most of which were in a fairly poor nick, from heavily chipped to some having been stood on with flattened roofs etc. He wanted between £3-4 EACH!!! Maybe the price of them is going up?

Posted

Was he actually selling any though, or just standing there freezing his gnads off and taking them all home again?

Posted

No, I think he thought I’d be buying them to sell on which genuinely I wasn’t, way too much effort to make 35p on something. I suspect he’ll be tipping the lot in the bin. He’s an odd chap anyway, extremely abrasive and suspicious of everybody, thinking on I’m not entirely sure why he holds a market stall.

I had quite a good day yesterday die cast hunting,

Here's some of them,

Some of them are in really good condition, with shiny bases and no play wear at all.

They are all castings I already have, but the condition was so good I couldn't leave them.

They weren't that expensive either.

I’m a bit like that, if they’re a nice example they’re always worth having. The last two in particular seem rare in good condition, the axles are nearly always bent on them.

I used to be a bit sniffy about Superfasts.   They came in right at the end of my childhood and true reactionary that I have always been I never really liked them.   Just recently though I started snapping up anything tasty and cheap that came up - especially the 70s hot rod stuff....

Always worth picking up nice stuff.

If some of these were boxed they would be worth quite a bit.

Although I think paying over the odds for a little piece of card is a bit daft.

Posted

Aye, especially when it stands a very good chance of having been knocked up on somebody's PC....

I like the idea with an unboxed one you can have a good look at it or display it. The boxes are so fragile.

Posted

Any boxed stuff I've found is always too expensive, for me at least.

I know some people only collect mint boxed,I prefer cheep n cheerful

This is the only older boxed stuff that's affordable.

I do have quite a few of these.

I will only buy a boxed model if the price is what I would pay for an unboxed.....Otherwise you end up with the ridiculous situation of storing a box and displaying a model.

That is a lot of wobbly French plastic there JM, NOICE :) . I'm not in the best of health atm, so diecastage has been minimal, however, a 1/43 scale Landy 110 brak down truck is on it's way from the Gay of EEE's, plus a Corgi 1/43 scale Tincorner, which is joining me as a source of spares for a Cararamamamamaama right hand drive swap

Good looking models and unusual to see them lined up.  I can almost smell the vinyl  :-D.

If they fell down a hill, it would be lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody, a 'Cortina Landslide', now whenever you hear that song, that will ring in your head

Think I've got some broken spare parts Gama / Schabak 1:43 cars that might have some RHD dashboards if you still after buying some? Was keeping them for myself but doubt I'll do anything with them anytime soon if your interested.

Great work on the Cortina conversion by the way. I really must get one at some point.
