Ive never seen a contemporary 5 door MK3 Escort model until today either, fantastic find Rich!

Back in the mid 1990s I had to resort to a massively shit Sunrise 1/76 white metal kit to get a 5 door MK3. Even a nice spray job in Titan blue didn't hide how comically crap it was 😅

Seems a few other folks are equally narked about the reversal of the Corgi Whizzwheels/ Vanguards Hot Hatches collection, and are sounding off on Facebook etc.

A slightly more measured take on what seems to be rapidly descending into a bit of a debacle can be found here on MAR:

https://www.maronline.org.uk/corgi-subscription-series-all-pulled

Can't blame Corgi for wanting to measure potential uptake before taking the plunge on commissioning a whole new range/ ranges, but with this tactic they've caused quite a lot of confusion and rancour...

I have a feeling this is going to bite Corgi on the arse. Hard. And at a time when they can't exactly afford to go pissing off customers, old and new.

Bit naughty of them as well to describe the products as "currently out of stock" when "never were in stock because the things never existed in the first place" would have been more appropriate. As soon as I saw people getting them for £2.99 and then for £0, the writing was on the wall for me then.

Ironically, acccording to some ' in the know', take up was really good on the Hot Hatch and Whizzwheels offers (the buses not so), but I have a feeling that if they do decide to run with the two collections, they might not be so warmly received this time! I've not seen so much rage and fury on Facebook since they changed the colours of the flag on the England football shirts...

Matchbox 5 packs now appearing at B&M Bargains though £8.99 each isn't particularly competitive for a budget retailer! Unfortunately all my B&M stores mirror this one in that it has truly ancient batches of Matchbox singles which will never EVER sell through!

With no official licensing approval Dream Becomes True deftly bypasses such things by calling it a MoLaren!! Matchbox sized again with opening doors and pullback function.

Yes you are exactly correct, made in their millions back in the day under various Universal Toys branding like Kidco and Dinky. The Chevrolet C-10 casting was copied by Soma back in the mid 1980s and incredibly its STILL in production via firstly Realtoy and now Daron.

Do you mean Springside? Sunrise is a Scottish manufacturer of very nice resin bus kits. Every Springside kit I've ever seen has looked naff and they never seemed to be able to get the proportions right. They're still available but most have been done as better and cheaper diecasts now so why bother?
