Cold one.

Thermometer still showing -1°C in central Belfast by 7.30.

Not that it deterred this bunch:

IMG_20240119_0735352.thumb.jpg.efb49ad7e91fb5162fc868c2228cc740.jpg

Nemesismobile was drawn up by the entrance doors, so I could be assured of company/ competition.

Although initial impressions were less than inspiring...

IMG_20240119_0742572.thumb.jpg.a7944f1c1ec9e34f4134794776ea7104.jpg

Hmmm.

IMG_20240119_0739262.thumb.jpg.58f4632deaa8acd92fe463ac90cfc8c1.jpg

Some other automobilia present on the stall, but not much.

IMG_20240119_0741132.thumb.jpg.aa9713d9794912051938d11026c300b4.jpg

Lots of crystal today, but that ain't why I'm here.

Fearing that it was going to be a let-down, I craned around the stall to see if there was anything worth sticking around for...

Not exactly the stuff of wonders, but you never know what's lurking...

Eventually, the Alphabites box was hauled up and ceremoniously placed upon a wheelie bin for our delectation.

As is the custom.

A bit of a mixed box, it's true...

IMG_20240119_0759182.thumb.jpg.3ea1e34067f4223e256d9472340e5f01.jpg

Quite a bit of modern rubbish, but carefully sieving to the bottom revealed some items of interest...

IMG_20240119_0811322.thumb.jpg.8b6748891c1b9d66a6aeb71f1c7c45df.jpg

Quite a few 50s/ 60s Lesneys, albeit most of them have been on the receiving end of a tickle with the Humbrols at some point.

Some more than others.

IMG_20240119_0821332.thumb.jpg.3ad2c385586246bc05d47bbea18ec9b0.jpg

Vinyl roof on the E-Type was fairly well rendered, it has to be said.

IMG_20240119_0813002.thumb.jpg.4b2914d58c45b29a484e2eae9b941e6e.jpg

Some Benbros veteran/ horse drawn vehicles were also in the mix.

IMG_20240119_0811542.thumb.jpg.32f8b52a3fa6abcac4fd9ceb9964a12e.jpg

I mean, it's not total rubbish - but it's not really stuff we haven't seen before.

IMG_20240119_0814132.thumb.jpg.eefe5b13a14055277a15ce5f23718fb2.jpg

Husky Buick Electra was complete, but came with a lovely coat of mud.

IMG_20240119_0813452.thumb.jpg.e7b9efc97dd9a9e923c31c575bd31ddc.jpg

I did manage to reunite the chassis and tipper bed for this Morestone item, though.

IMG_20240119_0815092.thumb.jpg.1f35bed46722ab6ecac20ffabec3da66.jpg

Different wheels fore and aft - dunno if this was by design or error.

Desirability here is fair to middling, so really it all comes down to price...

It's not a 50p box.

It's not a £1 box.

Seemingly, we're talking £2 - £3 a go here...

There were a few curiosities, mind:

IMG_20240119_0759342.thumb.jpg.ed9cf9ac1a8410a21e35c4beef03b0b5.jpg

This Tonka Winnebago, for one.

With an opening hatch on the back, curiously.

IMG_20240119_0759402.thumb.jpg.35ee4e593d0e35d27eb5034b991ba1a2.jpg

Not in bad overall nick either, but a meaty tenner on this one.

EFSI Mercedes coach was ok too, and quite nice for just being solid colours.

IMG_20240119_0759482.thumb.jpg.bbedb9855378f6f4353765f00803b841.jpg

Husky Thunderbird had a nick out of the screen, but was otherwise alright.

IMG_20240119_0800032.thumb.jpg.bd40b8579f324a857df671313866e366.jpg

Summer BMW 3.0 CSL was a bit approximate, but still quite charming.

IMG_20240119_0800342.thumb.jpg.1097a275baae51cf5936bb24fcff1fea.jpg

Still after one of these Polistil Snow covered Bug if one is lurking in that Beetle Box?

IMG_2987.jpeg

And that was really the sum of the excitement for the day...

I got a bit excited to clock an early-box Universal era Matchbox, but I don't really need another one of these.

IMG_20240119_0810052.thumb.jpg.7b46b2b80e3e692708a5d6aa8e7c2269.jpg

Corgi missile trailer was in reasonable shape, but I don't have a missile (or the matching Land Rover from the set):

IMG_20240119_0816582.thumb.jpg.f4ed05e62a3d82268371a00959374add.jpg

Lesney crane was quite clean, though.

IMG_20240119_0816522.thumb.jpg.f92801dffd4e51674e9666b9c0bf7a81.jpg

I pulled out a few of interest...

IMG_20240119_0759272.thumb.jpg.4f98b2bdf5e000b82ca88308523264d6.jpg

But most of them I ended up putting back.

For a quid, yes... for £3, hmmm... maybe not.

It's getting to late-on in January, and tat-funds are low.

A quick spin around the rest of the stalls didn't reveal very much - the Charity Stall had this Supervan in its Case of Dreams...

IMG_20240119_0736242.thumb.jpg.945c2f0dd8d33c21b97cad781f555320.jpg

And yet another Corgi carry-case:

IMG_20240119_0737102.thumb.jpg.884aa1810c31e5faabd715db78490c71.jpg

But that was really the height of it.

So! Will go back for a final wander, and see what's what...

I had a good look through just in case there was anything of interest down at the bottom, but sadly nothing like that Polistil! Mostly just Bburago/ Maisto/ no-name tat.

Okay, some items procured... and now I'll really have to head home and try to warm my feet up, as they appear to have turned into blocks of ice...

The Corgi Thunderbird Missile Carrier  could be bought separately from the towing Land Rover

So might just be the missile itself to find.  Unless it was already launched.

Market blokey seems to have a Beetle infestation - what's the black oval? Interested possibly

Well then... as was typical, Alan had only just set out his wares at the point I was scuttling out the doors around 9.30, which is why he never appears in the main write-up:

IMG_20240119_0922222.thumb.jpg.8d7d3e901f07a6bbec63e5843b3025e6.jpg

By the time I'd glugged my coffee and made a stab at editing my terrible blurry photos, Market Blokey had made an effort to offload his Beetle overload...

IMG_20240119_0926132.thumb.jpg.0ec73e79b7d1c6f0c8e1cd0a96a61d33.jpg

I was once again vaguely distracted by a local (Code 2?) Lledo Morris LD150, which surely doesn't bode well for the future...

IMG_20240119_0927052.thumb.jpg.23735e85e63ec5d3f4d817c2d7e6c800.jpg

And the Tat Box appeared to have been raided in the interim too.

IMG_20240119_0929232.thumb.jpg.1ad0593cc9cf3d73bb0d1645c45c19e4.jpg

But - all was not lost, and despite numb fingers (even under two pairs of gloves), I didn't leave empty-handed...

I thought there might be a few dub-lickers in the general vicinity...

IMG_20240119_1029202.thumb.jpg.67950f75f9aa2cb21a5b5e8269bb680d.jpg

Lesney T1 has lost some of its transfers, but the paint isn't bad overall.

Some touching-up of wheels etc is apparent, though.

I believe the repainted oval-window is by Morestone, and although scruffy is complete and undamaged.

Might tidy alright - yours for £3 each if you want them!

Lesney Ford Prefect is one that usually provokes some interest, even if they're often a bit the worse for wear:

IMG_20240119_1028282.thumb.jpg.420cb45a2aedad3174cf20d2b88545f8.jpg

This may be a repaint - the wheels have definitely been dabbed with black paint, but I'm not sure about the body. It seems oddly matt, but it might just be dirt causing it.

As often seems to be the way, the back end of the base has needed repair at some point - this appears to have been done with solder (or possibly lead?):

IMG_20240119_1028372.thumb.jpg.4e21b6dbed77eaf32e46fe6fe6d0cf68.jpg

Typical Ford.

So, far from mint - but could be a reasonable enough project, if anyone's keen, for £2?

This Husky Sunbeam Alpine is one that I seldom see with the windscreen still intact, so that was why I nabbed it.

IMG_20240119_1027252.thumb.jpg.7b44ff3f9501cce1406b3272bc5a6e15.jpg

It's actually not in bad shape - the other side has much less paint loss.

If anyone fancies it for £3, let me know!

The regular wheels iteration of the Lesney Jeep is one that never seems to crop up without the windscreen surround broken off - but at least this has a full complement of tyres:

IMG_20240119_1027352.thumb.jpg.a9e08815091ac981d08940ab075b231e.jpg

I think I'll be keeping this one, for a while anyway, just in case more snow photoshoots present themselves...

And lastly, a bit newer but this Corgi BMW E30 is in quite nice shape:

IMG_20240119_1027562.thumb.jpg.817f1d71797dcdb27947b33c90869bd5.jpg

Seemingly an early version, going by the wheels.

IMG_20240119_1028032.thumb.jpg.1f396628781b1da2ad0496d789ed8276.jpg

I seem to recall these were notorious for shedding their doors, so intact and clean is maybe a bit of a rarity.

IMG_20240119_1028172.thumb.jpg.182495a14d707c338ba1aec0caae74b6.jpg

Also available, at the £2 mark!

To be fair, back in 2019-2020 I always considered the '50p box' being somewhat an enigma, when 'Charity' shops around here in England (20m north of the capital) have always priced tat condition examples alongside eBay 'antique' seller pricing

I went to Welwyn Garden City last year and saw well-used found-in-attic 1970s toys in the window of BHF at £50+

Plus also a pint of euro-fizzed Stella Artois in my flat-roof local is now £5.40

Less pints = More Lesney.

I'll take the blue split bus then please, if you bought the No.8 bug on my behalf I'll have it but I do have a good one here already

Might as well add the BMW too

So that proves it then...    when there has been a clear-down in such a short time (under 2 hours) then even at £3 he could still sell them twice-over.

Any Lesneys/Morestones of that age should be a fiver really
