And now, sadly, I gotta be going - things to do, stuff to sort - but it was probably worth braving the cold...

Yes although some Speedwheels era were rivetted and continued to be until the end.  Looking at photos online, can't find a 914 with rivets though.

That interior is more brown than the bright red on the Speedwheels metallic blue ones with black bonnet

The yellow previously cast wheels original releases came with black interiors

Looking at the chipping, it looks to have been taken back to bare metal if it is a repaint.  Oh the excitement

I'll have a look next week for you - I was away just after 9, unfortunately!

Yes, it's got a screw-on base - though I reckon it's been spray-painted at some point in the dim and distant past.

The interior does look brownish, but I think it may have just faded badly in the sun - plus it has really tiny speedwheels, the sort fitted to the Mini Clubman.

Rare Binns Rd prototype or someone's custom build? You choose!

Interesting.  I must get one of those Clubmans!  (anyone got a spare?)

The Porsche back here has those smaller cast hubs as found on the Lotus Europa.  Except the tyres are undersized too...!

I did wonder but do look to be original, are same type in a set and do fit hub correctly

The big 1/18 Corgi McLaren M23b was impressive, though sadly lacking one rear wheel and with an imposter driver. Decent overall condition, though.

This one was snaffled by The Nemesis (though he was very nice about it and did insist on giving me first refusal).

There were also these 1/26 scale Polistil racers...

Surprised the overalls are in good condition as loosing a wheel usually cause a code brown situation.

Lovely, but at £36.99 they weren't really within reach of my meagre resources...

Those are all current releases, £35.99 direct from Corgi (plus postage).

Those tyres on your 914 look like Corgi Mini Magnifiques ones.

My 914 has high profile tyres. Also the little button to open the bonnet is black.

Hot Wheels '70 Plymouth Barracuda from the 'Flying Customs' 2021 series, courtesy of @AndyW201 👍

Hot Wheels 1968 Cougar from the '50th Anniversary Originals Series' (sometimes called 'Replica Redlines') of retro-releases from 2018 in the style of very early Hot Wheels with the collectors button.  Weak moment but saw on eBay and £6.50 bought it.  Must dig out the others I know I have one or two and rarely found over here, or 'cheap'.  Card has some knock but so what - I am not collector, I am hoarder.

I've had a few of those 914s go through my hands (must get a yellow one) and they all have very red interiors

Maybe it's sun damage, but every now and then an oddball appears - my kit Beetle with red interior for example. I have now seen just one other example, it was tatty as hell and I still had to sit on my hands not to bid on it!

At least replacements are easily available. Also, better it happened at home than on the motorway...

Supermarkets were mostly dry but for a lone Bat mobile. Charity Shop had a Trailer and an interesting Hot Wheels in rough shape. 20230414_120257.thumb.jpg.b2fd308a5f440b9a1dd714b80969f669.jpg20230414_120319.thumb.jpg.1aea0338690528a13d36b4305120bdd3.jpg20230414_172429.thumb.jpg.eca7cd34275b614d2fd6451e09297f14.jpg20230414_120331.thumb.jpg.539c483666e0dc373442ec0a1e68cb44.jpg20230414_120339.thumb.jpg.35664bf9fc1a69ed4ee6ad86a7da385c.jpg

DING DONG went the doorbell again

Another parcel... this time from dodgy Evri Man in his car™ (who just leaves parcels on the doorstep, then dashes off)

An eBay offer-accepted @£7 for this Dinky '64 Chevrolet Impala, no less.  Yes, the one that was originally supposed to be a Spot-On and was subbed to the Hong Kong factory after Meccano bought Tri-ang.  Well that cheered me up!

WP_20230414_16_24_45_Rich.thumb.jpg.fda221f0c40f61bf3d742f9366465b9b.jpg

Do have one here, a bit of a wreck that got repainted.  But still not seen an original with uncracked glass and both front and rear clips reasonably decent and complete, well not outside of a museum shelf or antique* shop with STRUNG PRICE TAGS.  The screen has just two light scratches that will just polish out.  Original tyres are there.  Roof paint has taken a battering but unusually it is not painted white, apparently that makes it scarcer.  Might paint roof black to be annoying

WP_20230414_16_24_53_Rich.thumb.jpg.d8ae1532d2c04df7fcbece12e95111a4.jpg

It has opening things!  And odd plops of white paint to remove including on the rear screen.

WP_20230414_16_25_32_Rich.thumb.jpg.b4c21871474efed4e879bb7f7b9e169b.jpg

Proof of Hong Kong manufacturing and Spot-On lineage scaling!

WP_20230414_16_25_39_Rich.thumb.jpg.ba73248d0e55bbed2bee0cac2013e6a4.jpg

It was so exciting, the Dinky (Hong Kong) '64 Buick Riviera and the Gamda Koor Sabra (Israel) '66 Buick Riviera popped over for an 'opening things' session.  Except the Dinky Buick hood wouldn't stay up and the heavens opened, so they dashed indoors.

WP_20230414_16_26_41_Rich.thumb.jpg.e9c4781bcc76bade7f978a61379c8179.jpg

The Giraffe remained unimpressed throughout.

FRIDAY FUN FACT!

The Hong Kong Industrial (HKI) factory at Smithfield, Hong Kong Island that made the subbed Dinky and Mini-Dinky range was the very same that produced the Hot Wheels (just not the very early run in the US) after Mattel purchased HKI in 1966.

So, a HK Dinky of either scale was likely born from the very same machinery (and same delicate hands) as a Hot Wheels, right up until 1983 when production moved to Malaysia and others.  Cor.

I carefully removed a Hot Wheels Fast and Furious Escort from its packaging so I could compare it to the three other similar versions

So there you go, all definitely different.

It did mean taking several hundred Hot Wheels out of the box as I put all the Escorts in first last time!
