Yaay! 19 year old Saabshite passes MOT shocker!

Just got word from the garage that my old Saab 900 has got its ticket for another year. :D:D

Initially it failed on a couple of piddly wee things, both headlamps were a bit low and the driver's seat was stuck. I didn't even know they checked whether the seat could move or not but the MOT man said it was one of the things that came in this year. Anyway he's adjusted the lights and hit the seat with a hammer so it's all good. I'll get him on camera saying "I'm an MOT tester and I'm amazed at how solid it is underneath" so I can talk the usual shite when I decide to sell it!

Quite chuffed a 19 year old car went through without any serious issues, I had thought the exhaust was a bit on the 'fruity' side but they've let it go, so it'll be getting a full wash & wax job as a reward this weekend. 8)

It's the 'lpt' model. not the full-fat T16 but a healthy enough 145bhp, although it feels like more.

Even after a year I still find the driving position a bit weird but it's a cracking car to drive, and the boot is huge!

Have a gratuitous pic. 8)

Good news!

I got similar news yesterday on my Volvo 740, passed first time. Not bad for a 25 year old car with almost 180K on the clock!

The exhaust middle section was rusty as hell and blowing, which I thought would mean a fail but it went down as an advise. Since it passed I got them to do the exhaust since its far too cold for me to do it on the drive!

Good old swedes!

I concur. The Volvo has passed its MOT with only minor advisories every year since I've owned it. I hope that remains the case for many more years :)

That's a cracking car, and well worthy of a foamy reward for passing its test. I've always fancied one of these, but the missus has taken against them for some reason (despite never having been in one, as far as I know). May have to just get one some time and keep it hidden.
