Rover Streetwise Steel Wheels

Recommended Posts

Some advice please gents. The father-in-law has a Streetwise on 16 inch alloys that he wants to change onto the factory-spec 15x6J inch steels. This is so he can fit higher profile tyres to (hopefully) make it a more comfortable ride.

Should wheels like this one off an earlier 200 be OK? I think the later 25s came with 14 inch wheels so I presume they're no good.

I've found four on ebay from separate sellers, but these alloys from an R8 cabrio would be cheaper but might look a bit odd on a Streewise:

Or, does anyone know if Rover wheels share PCD and offset with other types of car?

Cheers

They did make these with steel wheels, here's one I've found on autotrader, maybe see if anyone wants to swap?

I quite like the look of these and was thinking about buying one as a replacement for the Golf seeing that they are quite cheap now as I want to try and save some money on road tax, That was until i saw that even the 1400 was still £190 a year!

Trust me, that won't happen! but £595 a year just on road tax does sting a bit.

Sorry RobT, as you were...

1400 Rover shouldn't be £195, should be £165.

The Golf, Cortina and Mondeo all together Tayne, The 1.4 Streetwise comes up as £104.50 for 6 months and £190 for the year Ashmicro, It's a rip off, even my Mondeos only £165 a year.

I think those streetwise's look great on the steels, i've often looked on eBay to see if a cheap set ever appeared, but none have, they seem to be pretty rare.

Thanks for the replies :) That wheel fitment guide is brilliant, I'll copy it into Excel so I can sort them by spec.

Must say I prefer them on steels as they look more utilitarian, but he paid well over the odds for his 2.0 diesel based on those autotrader listings.

Sorry to post-hijack but this has reminded me that I've got two full sets of mudflaps for Streetwise in me garage, left over from a job lot I bought last year. Would he like one of them perchance?

I'm not sure why people get so worked up about small differences in the price of road tax, the Streetwise works out at 52p a day, the Mondeo at 45p a day - 7p a day is not going to bankrupt you.

The diesel Streetwise is £165 a year like the Mondeo.

Set of Mk2 Golf G60 rimz would look very similar, and OMGSHOCKHORROROSVWTAX aren't that expensive from your local VAG parts depot.

Thanks Pete, I shall tell the father-in-law. At the moment the best I can find for him is £140 for 4 from ebay.

I have METRIC SHITLOADS of 4 bolt steels for Vauxhall. You want me to pop a set to one side for you? Arrange transport sometime? Mostly 6 or 6.5x15. All black, mostly under 3 years old.... Free, as I am tripping over the cunting things. You can have 8 if you want. 12 maybe.... Let me see what I can do to match a set up. Centre bore only 0.5mm bigger than you need too, so it's almost right!

Yes please Albert, much appreciated. I'll have six if you want rid of them so he can have a couple of spares. It's the 6x15 he needs. No mad rush so whenever you get the chance to sort them out. I'll bung you a few quid for the trouble :)
