I've recently seen a red one parked up in Hibaldstow, off the A15 and also at a Fiat specialist in Hull. I've got some pics but fook knows where they are in my computer...

 

Last summer, whilst in my Panda 750, I followed G204 PND through Brigg.

 

At the time, I mentioned it on here somewhere, because I recognised it from one of your spotting threads.

I drove past Homefield Garage of 59 Main Rd Pinhoe Exeter lat night, it's still a garage a sorts, forecourt now a hand car wash, showrooms full of your choice of uPVC windows and doors. Not a Yugo to be seen

SL, that particular Yugo was registered to a Mr D Cuthbert. It does show what came in as exchange - when I get home I'll have a check (may have been a Metro VdP). I only have 2 books and have not yet found a Lonsdale - I recall being told (at a very early age) that only one or two sold and these would pre-date the first book I have. Shame. I live in hope to see one come back as a part-ex, then offloaded to Dawsons or Holbrows in Hadleigh which is where most of their non-BL stuff was shoved.

 

I was actually surprised how long the ones in that list lasted, and at least a few people traded them in for new ones after a few years. Tthe book shows records of cars being returned due to problems, and the only cars appearing were Metros.

First chance I've had to take a proper look at it. Some electrical faults were solved by changing by changing the relevant fuse, but others such as the horn and interior lights aren't. THe fuse that operates these is fine, with power at both ends so I'm not quite sure what's happened. Haven't managed to get it started either - turns over fine, there's a spark on the points but it wont fire.

 

 

Another possible major annoyance is the rear light cluster. The tail light isn't working but on inspection water has gotten in and rusted the bulb holder to the blown bulb. So I'm going to need to source a new rear light unit

Hi NC, the ignition system is totally conventional so the usual checks apply - plugs, points, condensor, leads, fuel etc.

 

Ref the rear lamp our spares guy should be able to supply either a new or secondhand item otherwise they appear on Ebay from time to time.

Yes. It is handwritten by a garage mechanic. If you know for sure what was part-ex'ed, I'll tell you what the values were.

Waldron Motors, Brook Street, Chester.

That takes me back, had forgotten about that place. I'm sure the first car auctions in Chester were in the same spot many, many years ago now. Waldron later truned into a used car place who sold cars at (mostly) daft prices but they offered 'special' finance for those who couldn't normally get it. It was a bit of a con to put it mildly as the weekly payments were low but lasted several lifetimes.

Rumour has it 'ask for Tom' meant asking for the same fella who ran the place but he then knew you wanted finance so turned on the smarm even more. Apparantly the owner was a traveller who had garages in Wrexham and Prestatyn and a bloody big static caravan holiday park on the coast somewhere.
