Never did get laid Alas.... then the manifold sheared off so it was dumped. With the price of scrap it might be worth repatriating it from its final resting place some where near Firenza

why did Ford sell so many?

Because it was a Ford....How many people would not buy a Citroen ZX or Peugeot 306 beacause they were 'french rubbish'??Far superior cars, drove & handled 10 times better, better engines and still loads on the road, you can't say that about mk5 escorts.
The primary reason for so many mk5 Escorts cluttering up UK roads was that a good proportion started life on fleets. Comments about Ford rust and French car spares costs seem superfluous :)

The local scrap metal merchant has now started advertising on the local radio station - someone on RR noted they got £178 for weighing in a BX estate (without depolluting it) there last week.Sorry to bring up the topic but that was us who weighed in the BX, a4 breakers pay good money... We brought it for £40 and kept it on road for 2 months until it broke  plus its a diesel so no good. we weighed in a wrote off seat cupra filled with scrap but had no engine and got £160, price had gone down sightly.

Thanks Brian - you must be relatively local to me then! I had been looking for a local boneyard when I had my Rover 820 a few months ago...now I know where it is! D'you reckon they'd take old domestic radiators? Old man's gonna have a fair few to chuck away when they get their central heating done...

Aint got a clue, sorry!, maybe you can chuck them in some scrap cars? Btw im in basingstoke area :D

Radiators probably pay better money than cars as 'clean scrap'. Get as many as you can, and other scrap metal too, and weigh them in.

Bloke I spoke to last week said he weighed in a Merc 190 with bust steering rack for £350
