My daughters fiat ulysses thing has failed mot on emissions,silly sod put 2 new tyres and exhaust etc on it before taking it for mot.

She urgently needs an old car to use till she can afford to get it fixed.

Anyone got old banger with mot pref in essex area that is cheap.

When I worked at Fiat, we always tried lobbing a can or forte injector cleaner in the tank, then a blast down the motorway, and an oil change often sorted them out. Is this one given a long run ever? Or just used on the urban circuit?

This stuff called "CATACLEAN" is meant to be really good at getting old bangers through emissions tests.

When did it fail the MOT? You're ok to take it back for a pre-booked test.

Mot station is only just down road from her,suggested she book it into mot garage about 20 miles away,theshe is covered to drive there,but not go for test but drive back to original mot place,then she is covered on way back if she gets a pull.

I always take a car for a good raping before the emissions test because the catalytic converter isn't actually working until it has warmed up a good bit.

How badly did it fail the emissions? Did it fail on CO or HC too high?

 

Oh yeah, and I've got a 106 for sale with T&T, but it might be a bit small for her and it's in Norwich...

Our Scooby failed its emissions, the idle air control valve was dirty and causing it to idle a little fast occasionally and it just killed the emissions. Could be worth a go and it's a fairly cheap thing to try?
