Am I the first to suggest you keep using the BX?

Nice Volvo, definatly the best choice! These things are awsome and built to last.

That is exactly the same as mine, just mine is a saloon and has air con! The gold is my fav colour for these too.

And you cant really go wrong at that price either.

I am using it.

However its not ideal for the 1000 mile work trips firstly cos I will trash it, secondly cos my insurance goes daft over 6000 miles per annum and lastly its a bit too noisey on the road when calls need to be made on the parrot.

The BX was always meant to be a toy. What I need for work is a tool to take the abuse.

Barge? Check.

Large? Check.

Leather? Check.

MOT? Check. (Until next September! No TAX though.)

Waftability? Check.

Auto? Check.

Sub 100k miles? Check.

Under £500? Check. (As I post this, anyway...!)

How would you fancy a 1994 Granada Scorpio? 2.0DOHC isn't exactly a powerhouse in these but reasonable enough. A little bit of grot on the rear arches, but pah... Otherwise a very tidy old motor.

That was ideally what I wanted a granny Scorpio with a giffer spec motor

The only reason I've ended up with this Volvo is that it has a silly amount of mechanical fettle and t n t for less than its scrap value.

Would have ideally preferred a luxosaloon....but this means there is change to perhaps indulge in something really daft and ubershite...I have the urge for a large pov spec saloon of somesort

Good choice, Mr Scoot! Tailgate is an easy job, done that; roof lining shouldn't present many probs either. This is the right tool for the job, may it serve you well.

I had a lodger once that used to drove those 2.0 litre Granadas for Stansted Airport taxi company (whatever it was called 15 or 16 years ago). I remember him telling me that he was surprised how little fuel they used for such a big car. Would have been a manual though. I have no way of knowing whether it's true or not.

I saw a nice Peugeot 505 turbo diesel automatic last year that went on ebay for about £500. The seller was convinced it was worth £800 but only got £550 or something. I had a drive in it and it was nice.
