Woody Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hello shiters (should that have a capital 's' ?) Longtime lurker, so I thought it about time I became a poster. I'm another from the great East Angular, although a little further east on the Essex Sunshine Coast A couple of miles from the (in)famous Jaywick in fact, but in a nice area of course! My current car is an Autoshite in training, a 9 year old Focus estate, it's a TDCi so I'm just waiting for the DMF to disintegrate in a cloud of smoke and metal fragments while in the middle of nowhere. It's a good old bus though, and it's only got 66000 miles and 2 previous owners, I've had it for the last three years. My car history certainly qualifies me though, in rough chronological order - 82 Mazda 323 saloon in Japanese racing gold, 83 Fiesta 950L (beige), 86 Mazda 323 1.3LX, 84 Sierra 1.6GL (also Beige), 1987 & 89 Fiesta 1.1 Ghias, 1990 Escort 1.3L, and three Skodas - 2 Fellatio estates (waves to Felly Magic) and an 'F' reg Rapid in solid grey which was really dark beige. Looking forward to being a (ir)regular poster...
Wilko220 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Welcome We need some archive pictures from your motoring history!
Luxobarges_Are_Us Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Welcome aboard! It would be nice to see some of that old shite! (edited to add: Wilko beat me to it )
Woody Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 I'll have to dig some out - I think the old man's got most of my old one's as they were obviously pre-digital era. And who would really photograph a Skoda estate? Since I've been lurking on here, I find myself taking more and more interest in shitty old cars, I even spotted Earl's Rover outside the garage in Colchester last week!!
trigger Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hello from another fellow East Angular! I was up your way this evening in fact (Kirby Cross) buying some crappy car magazines.
Woody Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Here's one of the Focus. As this was taken the day after I picked it up over 3 years ago, it's not quite as shiny and clean now...
dieselnutjob Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 My brother in law has one of those. It's been a good car.I wrote a program to read the error codes on his using an elm type cable.
DSdriver Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hello, good evening and welcome!I was up your way at Mersea Island a couple of times recently, running the gauntlet of the strood (tidal causeway) from the mainland. It's never a good idea to get Citroens of any age close to salt water. There are a couple of interesting vehicles local to you that I saw but as I was driving could not snap. One was an old horse box in a front garden on the main road to the island and the other was a lovely white zephyr/zodiac of the Mk3 variety on a driveway in West Mersea.
BMC Dan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Welcome! Round your way now and again during the summer months as the parents have a holiday chalet in Point Clear. Do you attend any of the local classic shows?
Woody Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 I'm often away weekends during the summer as I compete in dog agility trials, but I'm going to try to get to some next year. Be good to meet some fellow forummers if anyone goes - I'll have to keep an eye out on here. It's good that there seems a number of members relatively local, whereas on other forums I've used people are usually miles away from this little corner - it's one of the things that persuaded me to come out of the dark corner where I've been lurking. Mind you, I think Trigger's papped all the decent tat round here already!
Felly Magic Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Welcome from an exiled Northerner, now also in East Angular, and former resident of Can Hall Estate in Clacton...
scooters Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Welcome Woody - How I wish I lived nearer the land of the East Angles...the Essex coast and the Cambridgeshire and Lincs fens are EL DORARO for the Shitter and SARFEND is without doubt the COSTA DEL CHOD! you rarely get any decent shite up here - when you do you have to really dig for it!

Woody Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Welcome from an exiled Northerner, now also in East Angular, and former resident of Can Hall Estate in Clacton... Small world - I live on Bockings Elm, so only a mile or so down the road. Well done for escaping! I'm actually a former (part-time) resident of Ipswich, I worked in Fore Street for a few years Thanks all, I'll try to behave myself around here and not upset too many people at a time.
