pogweasel Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Agenda: 1) Apologies2) Grot 1) Firstly my humble apologies to the organisers of the weekend's meet, as hard as I tried I just couldn't get the car ready in time, some frantic spannering got us nearly right but really couldn't face a 100+ mile shakedown with the kids in the car on my tod. 2) And here's the good news, today I have managed to snaffle this:... for a shite-tastic £50, and still clinging to a ticket by it's fingernails too. (Ladders not included)It's a 316 carb-fed automatic, so the driving experience should be thoroughly miserable Gives me a chance to utilise some stockpiled 'bits' that I wouldn't have the balls to apply to my good [sic!!!!] one. [/img]
Spottedlaurel Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Shame not to see you there. But £50 for that? Great score!
r.welfare Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 1800 carb + 3-speed = milkfloat.How much to clean my windows then?
Torsten2001 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Jealous, I was just too late but if you're driving it home one evening and need a lift from a Central London BR to it I'd be happy to help!(and once I'd got the address out of you I'd drive to Keston, bump you over the head and go fetch!)Let me know, can't do Tuesday
bigstraight6 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 It's a 316 carb-fed automatic, so the driving experience should be thoroughly miserable Just a slight understatement there MrP! what a complete 'punishment' wagon, still for the small amount of folding can't be a bad thing.....
pogweasel Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 1800 carb + 3-speed = milkfloat. How much to clean my windows then?Indeed. I've had a carb-fed 316 before, and that was almost dangerously pedestrian. This should be positively comedic!Jealousy, train stuffLoLz. Previously I would have fetched it. But I'm getting one of my regular transport lads to fetch it up on a lorry. As I see it, he can 'backload' it for £70. If I caught the train that's at least £25 (and I don't get my fares paid by work these days ), then say £25 in fuel home, plus toll charges, plus Burger King, plus 10 bensons..... and then there's my time... I'll just stay late at work one evening and !bingo!, costs covered.
Torsten2001 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 £25 from your gaf to Londinium Central? Surely you're having a Steffi Graf?
pogweasel Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Nope. When I was given my cards in December a 'travelcard' was £28.10 on a daily basis.Fugging pisstake!
Torsten2001 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Lord cock almighty!I did do an off peak to St Albans recently to pick up a 244 and it came in at a very reasonable £8. Having said that I purchased a return to Rhyl to fetch a Lada at an even more reasonable £16...c nuts
wuvvum Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 That Beemer was ludicrously cheap. I really must start frequenting the RR For Sale board more often...Shame you couldn't make it to Cranwell. You could have had a go in the Renner Six...
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 A BMW 316 auto sux big sailor dong for coins down the Fish Quay @ North Shields.
pogweasel Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Shame you couldn't make it to Cranwell. You could have had a go in the Renner Six...OH ARSECRISPS!I'd have loved a bash at that. There's still some ominous clanking coming from the steering/suspension of the 325i, so I couldn't tkae the risk. If it was just me I prolly would have gone on a wing & a prayer but not with the little peoples.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I had a blezz in JonCedric's pony today too! Oo-er missus etc.
MrRegieRitmo Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Nope. When I was given my cards in December a 'travelcard' was £28.10 on a daily basis.Fugging pisstake! That seems steep, sure it's around 30 quid peak time for us down here (65 miles from the capital) & about 13 quid cheap day return.
nigel bickle Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 £44 from Barnham, Reg -down to £8 if you time it right
Heidel_Kakao Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Looks an absolute bargain for £50, the guy even mentioned in the sale ad it would weigh in for more than that but I guess he would rather it remain on the road instead which is pretty good
retrogeezer Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Whats happened?? See he is saying you have let him down.
Torsten2001 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 What gives man, that was cheeeeeep, and I want it!
pogweasel Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Yah, been dicked about by the collection company. My normal chap couldn't do it for a week or so. Got someone else on the case, expecting to get home from work and find a nice grotty BM on the drive,.... zip, nada.... phoned the sella who confirmed it was very much still at his. GAH.
pogweasel Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Well he wanted moved ASAP, so if whoever is next in the queue turns up then 'fair game' I suppose. If Tom is available and so is the car then it could be back on again.
Torsten2001 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 shit man, I was 10 miles away and green with jealousy, still, already got shit loads I guess, left a message for the geezer anyway!
