Moar NEC shite....

I thought I'd just post up some of the cars that took my fancy at the NEC this weekend. I do take some right crap photos, so apologies for that. I also completely missed the Alfa Romeo Arna ( see separate thread) so I'm rather concerned at my seemingly lack-lustre shite spotting skills at the weekend!

A double helping of Ami. there was an estate version there aswell, but I much prefer these 'fastback' ones.

An early Dyane...I nearly bought one of these as my first car in the eighties...I've always liked 'em.

I never really liked 205s. Far too popular for my liking! But this was a basic one in beige loveliness , so couldn't resist!

The first Montecarlo to come into the UK, hence the solid butressess at the rear. All other UK specs had glass.

A seventies icon!

This reminded me of the Blue Peter Special Assignments in the early seventies....when Val Singleton would bugger off to Africa with Princess Anne to report back from some Safari Park or village with no water. They always drove these.

This is what a Golf without naff Halfords alloys and lowered suspension looks like. Nice aint it!

I particularly enjoyed looking round the Yugo stand. They even had a Yugo 'dollybird' in hot pants doing a 'meet and greet' . I thought she was far too attractive really....I'd have had a twenty stone munter in laddered stockings and stained Primark undies...far more in keeping with the brand.

Liking the 513 wheeltrims!

Now, I do like a nice bit of chain-link fencing.

This Ital was my absolute favourite car of the show. A late, A reg SLX in a gorgeous bronzey red colour. No-one on the stand knew what the colour was called and the owner had buggered off somewhere. It had been advertised in the local paper by an old dear who'd had it from new. Wish I'd seen the ad....I'd have been knocking on her door tout-de-suite!! Them wheeltrims is class!!

There were a lot of yellow cars about it seemed...

Mint Imp. The pictures in the window were of its appearance in some TV show...I can't remember which. I was going to say Heartbeat ...I suppose they could have just put earlier plates on.

More yellow. I lurked round this for ages like a right geeky anorak. You get two pics of this. Yes, two!

This was on one of the concours award stands. Can you imagine parking this next to a grotty T plate Ford Galaxy full of chavs in Morrissons car park? Door dings galore!

Hark at the price tag on this! 28k from new. It was nice, though.

Astra Celebrity in glorious eighties two-tone.

Beautifully restored Commodore with matching carpet......

Work in progress on this Victor estate.

Let's get down to some Grade A ubershite...Gamma sedan in brown. Surely it doesn't get better than this?

Oh yes it does!

I shall finish with some more French tat.

This was by-passed by a lot of people who wanted to gawp at the lovely DS's further down . A bit like having Lee Remick stand between Jayne Mansfield and Diana Dors. Understated class!

Ooh! look what else turned up!

It was also nice to meet some of the shiters from on here.

Nothing wrong with those pics. I've a feeling I was sitting on the next table to you in the arena eating bit, was going to ask but didn't want to make a prat of myself, was a year since I last met you!

Enjoyed the show, just getting into taking some serious pictures when my battery failed. Must have been walking round in a daze 'cos I missed the Stradas and that Gamma, didn't seem to be where the Beta was.

Due to the horrible lighting and crazy red carpets I've discovered a lot of the pictures look better in black and white, well here are my highlights of the show.

Here's Yugo bird. Sadly I had to use flash as she was hiding from the feeble lighting under a gazebo. Had a lengthy chat with one of the Yugo lot. I was very glad they got a space - and they filled it with utter shite quality, including a van!

Ta for sharing. That yellow SD1 is just 100% perfect.

:D:D:D

Laaahvely pics, thanks for posting. (Black and white shots look very cool, actually.) Might have to go along next year if timing works.

There's also a saucy looking white 1980 Mk1 Astra in round headlamp povo spec, lurking in the background behind the interior-less FE Victor estate. Class.

That Ital was Operto metallic (not sure if thats how you spell it !) and yes was a lovely motor. I went passed a couple of times but like you say the owner was never there.

It looks like you and me looked at same stands and same shite. I hovered round the Yugo stand, had a chat with em about the raffle they had trying to save the alledged last Sana..

And your Talbot was stunning - had a rite good nose round that.
