My Autoshite Spots through the years with added orange Opel!

I remember when those Chevannes used to be everywhere. Sadly (or happily, depending on your viewpoint) I added to their decreasing number status by smashing into one in my Cortina many years ago and bashing the o/sr wing up something chronic. There was no insurance drama involved though as I might not have had any road tax and the van owner appeared a smidge over the drink drive limit.

Almost 10 years on, from my custodialship, it is still not on the road. Its had a new windscreen, new dome, new power steering ram, replaced engine stop solenoid, door valve gear replaced TWICE, replacement GRP emergency door, rear hub seals replaced & new drums & shoes all round, and it is needing the front bumper mounts straitening so a bumper will fit on. I would also say it needs a fair bit of welding doing. It is the last time I look after a museum trust owned bus. The sods also have my full LN2 workshop manuals & parts lists books, and Gardner LX series engine manuals. Once the thing is back on the road, I'm claiming them back to flog.

Back to the shite anyway. This motor was seen in Cambridge city centre in January. Austin A30, and it had a towbar on the back! Talk about living the Autoshitters dream here

That's terrific. I wonder if the towball is bolted to anything substantial or just the bumper.

Also, I love the way he's fitted a high-level brake light, but still relys on the trafficators as turn signals.

One from Canvey in Essex a few years ago. Victor estate. Rare survivor, especially as they were known to turn to powder as soon as the owner went through a puddle.

The museum there is mainly trolleybuses & trams, but has a few open days there each year. There is one good thing about it too, if you gift aid when you pay to go in, it gives you free admission again for the rest of the year, unlike one that is just down the road from me & Trigger
