Battery leads

Recommended Posts

Due to ineptitude I have two good batteries in the garage - however neither will fit the SD1 because the terminals are at the front of the battery when they should be at the back. The + and - are correct but too far away from the terminals.

Can you alter the leads because I am not buying another battery.

Thoughts?

I would and have done on numerous occasions. Even done it properly, replacing whole leads instead of bodging two leads together using a sawn off battery clamp and plenty of insulation tape. Who me? No, never.

Any ideas where you can get these?

I was thinking more along the ones in the picture with the dummy posts.

Can you put the battery on the other way around and reroute the cables a bit?

Had a hunt about, the photo lead to a US Jeep blog with someone asking where to get them, and no replies.

Just bolt it all together, make sure that the original clamps are insulated (wrapped in a heavy layer of insulation/gaffer tape or summat) to stop shorts and you are ready to go ! That Mr Halford should stock these items .

That this is exactly what happened to me (see Grump Thread about a week ago) so I feel your pain brother Bren.  Must be a popular* SD1 thing.  In my case I'd only just bought the backwards battery, and luckily that same Mr Halford took it back without a quibble.

You're not anywhere near the M4 corridor, are you?  Cos the old battery off mine turns out not to be the problem, so is probably fine and could be yours if you want;  not sure it's worth trying to post it but I'll be driving up to London on Thursday and back on Friday so could potentially meet/drop it off.

It doesn't work for the image of the two convertor lead thingies on this page, but if you can find the image (or one like it) elsewhere, does a search of the image url on tineye.com bring up the page of a manufacturer/supplier?

How would a ring go on to the existing ring?

Cut the clamp off and crimp a ring on.

Found this thread in a Google search, and wanted to update it for anyone else like me who comes here looking for the items in this image.

It appears to be from remybattery.com and is comprised of two items:

Top Post to Side Terminal Conversion Cables (SKU 5505) http://www.remybattery.com/top-post-to-side-terminal-conversion-cables-5505.html

Side Terminal to Post Conversion Adapter (SKU 5515) http://www.remybattery.com/side-terminal-to-top-post-conversion-adapter.html
