Been in contact with a fella from another Rover forum who has been trying to sell his lovely 1994 Rover Sterling for a while now. I guess the market for V6s aint that strong at the moment but I said I'd atput the word about if nothing else. There is a good chance it may be broken up for parts if not sold.

Story is, Ray, the owner is pensioner and cant afford the ever increasing fuel prices, he will be buying/has already bought a 2003 Rover 75 CDTi 2.0 so needs this moved on. Ray is looking for about £675 last time I checked on the forum in July but is open to offers.

He has emailed me a few photos and I found the original message he posted up on MG-Rover.org in July earlier this year.

If you cant be bothered to clicked the link, here is the post replicted with pictures (He didnt put up any pics in his post) This post was made in July this year so the price was a little higher then.

Summary

This car has never let me down during my nearly two years of ownership.

It starts on the button, and the engine and gearbox are superb. The car

has been given two very slight 'supermarket car park kisses', but you

can see from the pictures that it shines up well. It needed two small

areas of welding for the recent MOT, both in the area of the rear

suspension mountings on each side and these have been

adequately repaired.

With fuel costs as they are, and me an OAP, I have to chase the larger

mpg returns. I am sticking with Rover, however, and will be purchasing a

2003 Rover 75 CDTi 2.0 BMW engined diesel engined Tourer with a manual

gearbox -- 50+ mpg here I come!

I hope the car gives you as much satisfaction and pleasure as it has

provided for me.

Regards

Ray

I've got a few more pics of the front seats, they are not as in good condition as they look, the drivers seat certainly looks like its been sat for every one of the 139k its covered. The passenger seat probably needs a bit of a clean up but thats it. The rear bumper seems probably need a repaint by the looks of things, apart from that, if your looking for something with a bit of class to it then this might what your looking for.

The chaps name is Ray Attwood, I have his email address where he can be contacted at: 018b37f8.jpg

Much wantage meets much poverty. Sob!

He's had all this work done to the car and bought another one TO SAVE MONEY?

What was Earl's bicycle made of?

That's the least I expect really when I'm buying a car that age for that kind of money.

Otherwise it'd be a serious MOT failure worksheet on something like an 827, and a few hundred quid to put it right. Which wouldn't be cost effective as it'd still be worth less than the cost of the car and the bits - even if the car was £150ish without an MOT. For £650ish it wouldn't be a bad buy as long as it doesn't go wrong. At the end of the day if it lasts a year and then goes over the bridge of doom, and doesn't cost much to keep going in the meanwhile then that's £500 for a years motoring in a big leathery barge.

Disposable motoring. Bangernomics. If you like the 800 there are worse ways of getting from A-B.

IF the thing makes it through another MOT, there's a good chance you could make most of your money back.

^WHS, even though I have to defer to other people's experience of these models. I like the look of that, very much. It's certainly a spec I'd be looking for in a daily-driver.

I posted a link to this some weeks ago. I exchanged emails on it with ray. He has it on c&c for 500 which is a total bargain. I think the v6 s are sweetie money just now a guy round the corner from me was selling a saab 93 v6 for 300 with a 8 month MOT in excellent condition last month

I like that you have to pay extra for the trailer number plates.

 Yeah, what else is he going to use them on?

Yeah, that struck me as being a bit tw@tish. Like he's gonna use them again.

Shame that long list of maintenance doesn't seem to include a cambelt change, otherwise that would appear to be a good gamble for luxury bangernomics.
