Even though I've grabbed it and posted it, I've just noticed 'Colindale' on the Polo at the back

 

The late Mama Vin once had a Polo (A534 GLX) that originated from Colindale VW. It was written off in Scunthorpe in 1998 The 'Colindale' moikered rear number plate is on my garage wall. I've also still got the service history for it, as well as all the original Colindale headed purchase documents including a business card for a Peter Godwin. (Why have I kept all this .... )

 

As regards this image with the split screen VW...

 

 

I've been on the site - 'Reel Sreets' and it has an entry for 'The Chain'

And it comes up with an image from Google Streetview with a lot of beetles and a split screen camper parked on the road. The funeral director is still there and there is a garage behind that deals in air-cooled Volkswagens (I don't know how to do a streetview screen grab, but the garage yard is stacked with Beetle spares)...Maybe it dealt with them in 1984 as well .

By coincidence this next update also has Bernard Hill in. The grabs are from the the 1986 film ‘Bellman & True’.

 

I first saw this film many moons ago and is up there in my favourites. A good British drama about a gang who use computers and a programmer to crack codes, mess with CCTV and balls up alarm systems in order to rob a bank.

 

It has a great getaway car chase too.

This update is from an episode from the BBC documentary series ‘The world about us’

 

‘Yellow Trail from Texas’ was first broadcast in February 1976.

 

It follows Dale Starks and his team of ‘custom cutters’. With nine combine harvesters they travel northwards, farm to farm, from Texas up to Saskatchewan in Canada over a seven month period.

Some great screen grabs thanks for posting them , the one posted on 6/11/11 7.02pm ' Give your car a Holiday' pic 7 has caused excitement among British Rail road vehIcle afficianadoes as it shows through the window a British Rail minivan in green with full serial number showing. This is the first one ever seen as a far as I know , many thought BR had no mini vans ( despite the diecast modelmakers making a few in yellow livery) .

These grabs are from ‘Tutti Frutti’, the ace comedy drama from 1987 starring Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson & Richard Wilson.

 

Although recorded on film, a couple of the episodes were recorded on videotape, so there is a noticeable difference in some of the grabs.

Right, a bit of a resurrection of this thread with an update. It's been dificult finding any time to actually watch any DVDs that I can do screen grabs from...

 

But over the past couple of months I've been able to screen grab episodes of 'A Very Peculiar Practice' - this is a great series from 1986 (Bob Buzzard and his 'rinky dinky' computer is excellent) and there is a reasonable amount of old rammel putting in an appearance.....

Another update…

 

 

This update is ‘The Plank’ from 1967. Starring two comedy legends in Eric Sykes and Tommy Cooper, it’s regarded as a silent film, although there is occasional dialogue in it.

 

The gist is that Eric and Tommy are putting the floor boards in a new build house. They are one board short so have to go to the timber yard, in their Morris 8, to get another one. The film then follows the slapstick scrapes and escapades they get into just getting the plank back to site.

 

There is a lot of of old chod in the background, although the little old Morris is the star, which ultimately becomes a bit of a ‘clown car’….

Excellent, I have the 78 remake on DVD (along with Its Your Move) and I have been giving some thought to doing the same as its chock full of 70's chod.

So,  I thought I’d dust this thread off, pump up it’s tyres and take it for a run round the block and see what happens….
