Autoshite endangered species red list

Recommended Posts

Post war volume production cars that are in danger of becoming extinct, say less than fifty* left across the whole model range still on the road.

My idea being that if you are after a car but don't know what to have this will be a good place for ideas. If this gets going nicely it might need a sticky.

*Is this about right?

Addition to rules:

One car per post, with picture please.

Talbot Tagora.

(You'll have to search Mr. B. Oobydoo's posts for a pic of his Tagora collective)

Oh, there'll be loads :)

Citroen GS

Very comfortable small car, a good starter for those thinking about a CX

Anything Eastern European apart from post-VW Skodas.

Including some genuinely brilliant cars like the Tatras.

Did we not have a similar thing the other week?

Anyhow, according to how many left there is only 1 malaga left in the UK. We beloved it is in Leeds as Volksy saw it last year.

Can anyone suggest a way which I can find out where this car is? PM me if you can help. We don't have the plate or owt but being just one, it must be pretty easy to track down. I want to ensure that when the current owner gets shot of it he gives it to me.

I think 'endangered species' threads on Autoshite outnumber the endangered species.

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time, perhaps I should have laid down a few ground rules as I had a vision of it being a source of inspiration for shiters who were wondering what to buy next, not just people putting "every car made in Coventry"

Well it is is a good vision. There are previous vision threads too unfortunately. Or is that fortunately :)

Blanks in your car cv.

Ok. Pic post. The Alfa 6. Owned this one this year and sold it last month. Approx 6 of all model ranges in existence in UK, 2 on the road.

Legend has it that you must own an Alfa 6 before you die

First seres Alfa 33. The ones that were more Alfasud-ish than later ranges. But perhaps more shonky. This is in my garage in disgrace on a SORN. One of 7 first series survivors known - 3 taxed. Bulkhead rot and apathy killed these. (Ignore the Alfa 145 wheels from the nineties)

What I really really want is a lovely ARNA.

Don't forget the darling of the Lancia Beta line - The Trevi. Just so happened to owned this one year before last, one of notalot left, considering the Crylaguard cavity protection that gave it a a 6-year anti-perf warranty.

2 taxed cars, 5 SORNers.

OH NOES! http://www.salvagesparefinder.co.uk/SEA ... 259797.htm

Think this may have been the one, it was in York, so possible it's come from upnorth.

Damit.

oh noes #2

I have a carb on inlet for that in the garage ready too.

Sold whole, I take it? So it's possibly in one piece still, surviving ready for you - the hunt is on!

Maybe not so much fucksticks. When was that auction? Can you tell from the site?

Probably still fucksticks though. :(

Can't tell. Maybe you have to be a fully paid member to see sales histories.

DVLA doesn't have it on the Q3 data through, which points towards the bad.

Who cares? There's probably about 50,000 of them still left in Spain.

Why don't you go and hammer a socket over it?

I do.

Think it would have been quite cool to own the last RHD, last UK market survivor.

That's what I meant. Just feeling a bit aggressive today. Tried ringing the place to see if they could tell me if it went to a scrappy or if it was a private buyer but could not get through. Will try again tomorrow.

I think that website is a third party sales site, from the photos I'd guess it was originally listed at copart, who have a depot in York.

I think my 604 is one of very few RHD 604 STi jobs. Unfortunately, nine wasn't built for the UK market. Twas originally Aussie spec but now has UK springs'n'shocks. It appears to have been in the UK from new, so was probably a cock up by Peugeot UK's ordering division.
