There used to be a book titled "Four Wheels To A Fortune" that used to be marketed heavily about twenty years ago. As I'm not a totally gullible tosser I never sent off £20 to see how the author bought and sold cars to make his millions. All I could gather from the advert was that he bought cars from places other than auctions.

 

Did anyone on here actually buy the book?

 

What did it say and what was the big secret?

In my experience that usually means;

 

1. they havent actually got the book

2. the copy for auction is a shagged out ex-library copy or so dog eared and mouldy you wouldnt want it in the house

I did actually buy it but lost it lending it out years ago.From what I remember the author bought trade-ins from garages,cleaned them up and then flogged them at auction.The general idea was to take a small profit quickly much like those webuyanycar people do these days.The trade shove their trade-ins in the auction themselves now so cutting out this middleman approach .

There's been loads of people try this bollocks but it rarely works. I think Mike Brewer had a tv program where he did this and ended up with a new MG ZR.

In one of the motor trade magazines we get at work they're trying to do this to raise money for charity but even though they've been given cars by dealers, had cars bought at over the odds at charity auctions and had the help of full dealer workshops and staff they're still not getting very far.
