It's near Dewsbury (the French quarter) and it's SOLD NOW OK, here's the full ad on the RR For Sale Board: http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... ead=112216

You can PM me on here rather than there if you like though. Anyway, think of it not as a car, but as a TIME MACHINE. Not like Back to the Future, or that Spanish film Timecrimes when that guy makes a woman take her clothes off, a somewhat different sort of time machine. Drive around and imagine, you could be in...

1992 - You're just been stitched up by DC Cook on a lousy HP deal, but you're happy to get a new car.

1997 - You've just been stitched up by DC Cook on a lousy HP deal, but you're happy to get a used car.

2001 - You're a student and you're going to Uni, but you'll only use the car to go to see rubbish local bands.

2006 - You're a French farmer and you don't really care as long as the police don't pull you over and smell your wino-breath.

2011 - TODAY! You're driving around in a cute little French car and women adore you.

Joking aside, it is pretty tidy and runs well. Bye!

As lovely as these cars are in every way, whenever I look at the later models all I can think about is sliding the indicators back round so they line up with the headlights.

:oops::|

Oh, and someone get it bought before I do something really stupid resulting in a divorce.

Hey Duquan, we'd be happy to pick you up from the station again.

As for TRIGGER, you have to pay first - bit like with women.

Bargain!

I don't want another just yet - two are enough for now. These are absolutely ace to drive though - I drove behind a really clean F plate Campus earlier and realised how unusual it is to see one now. The last time I saw one out and about was when my mate was following me, driving mine! They're a time machine alright - the 1.7 GTX was so temperamental, it gave a glimpse into the future to show what all Renaults made from about 2003 would be like.

I learnt to drive in a 1984 1 lt campus...great wee cars. One of the first small cheap cars (along with the polo) that was capable on the motorway as well as in town. Comfy as well

These are great cars, I had a serious accident in one of these, (hit an embankment at 60mph, richoceted off wrapped it round a lamppost. Walked away with scratches). They are tough little cars.

Would be ideal for me, if you want a Volvo is exchange I'd be interested!

Or perhaps instead, someone could buy this one.

Renault 5 campus 1.4 (not a renault 5 gt turbo)

That's probably why you put Campus 1.4 then.

drivers door and bonnet are a slightly differnt colour to the rest of the car (looks like they have been replaced)

They are slightly out

I have a buy it now price of £700 if you come with £700 cash its yours...........

F**K OFF!

I'm glad he mentioned it wasn't a turbo, as if I were in the market for one this would appear in my search listings. Then I might get confused and buy it by accident. Phew!

haha I have visions of somebody being fed up with the chavvy GTs and putting in a search for "Renault 5 -gt"

Yeah it was some semi-trader sort bought it, from those pictures I think I know where he is actually. Fair play to him if he thinks he can make any more cash off it, not my problem though - he paid up no bother.

I thought about getting it to make a few quid but then looked at the completed listings on e-bay for an assessment of what they are actually going for, not what they are getting put up for sale for. They were selling for a fair bit less than I expected for a small cheap car so thought better of it as I dont have the perseverence to flog cars on. If I knew someone after a small car it would have been full of win but alas no.

All depends how you look at it. The thing with 80s-era small hatchbacks is that they appeal to both enthusiasts and skint people - the former are going to pay more for a nice straight one with all the originality and suchlike, the latter will only take it if it's going cheap and couldn't care less about it having the original tape deck or whatever. Problem is that there's not many of the former so you're unlikely to get good money for it on an eBay auction unless a few of them all spot it at once - the bargain motor sorts will likely abandon it by the time it starts to get to the sort of money you could get a ropey Corsa/Clio/Saxo for, which isn't a right lot.

Personally I'd have got it through an MOT and continued to tidy it up, then stuck it on the classic sites at a fixed price - nothing "eBay bargains" daft, but reflecting how nice it is and all that business, a few hundred quid more than a car you'd feel comfortable weighing in once the MOT ran out, put it that way. Obviously then you've got to wait to cross paths with someone who really appreciates what you've got, but in that time you've got a weird motor to tool around in. It does pretty much rely on waiting, but at least you generally get to deal with much nicer people and they tend to be keen - you only need one person to buy it. It was like when I sold my Cuore TR-XX - the phone was quiet on that for weeks and eventually I had a frantic phone call asking if it was still for sale and he practically cheered when I said it was as he'd been searching for yonks. Paid full asking price too!

Exactly. It's always a million times better selling stuff if you don't actually have to as such or are not desperate for the readies. That way you can often weed out the nitwits who only want something with tax and MOT because they probably won't bother with silly stuff like insurance and driving licence and these people as you rightly say are more likely to hammer a car then just weigh it in.

To me that's fine (as long as they're legit drivers with insurance) if it's some 12 year old bland mobile, but stuff like that 5 deserves a decent owner who will appreciate it for what it is.
