It's already been claimed by some chaps on BX Club. Top spec diesel - apart from being a non-turbo 1.9. It's effectively a GTi with a 71bhp diesel lump. SPORTY!

You need to be quick with BXs! They are finally getting enough of a following for most to end up in enthusiast's hands. Mark my words - cheap BXs won't be a common sight for much longer.

On the plus side, it's quite likely that the chaps who've bought it will sort out its issues (it's got quite a few actually, and apparently the alternator belt snapped on the drive home!) and it'll probably end up on the market again in better condition albeit for more money. Bear in mind that 'expensive' in BX circles is still some way short of a grand... (that's also likely to change in the not too distant future I reckon).

EDIT - if you can live with left-hand drive, how about some Mk1 BX WIN? http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Would rather have this donkey than the 1.7TD with its more stressed head and block to matrix pipes made of braided unobtainum.

The 1.9 is no slouch despite its lack of turbot.

I thought the TZD was a 1.7 turbo. My BX was a def a 1.7TD, when my Dad had it, the performance was amazing. By the time I took it on, it had been laid up and the turbo was useless. Scrapped it due to failed suspension, but I think the scrapman put it back on the road.

Most TZDs were the 1.7 Turbo, but a few had the 1.9 NA. Both engines have their merits. I do like the NA, but there are definitely times when you feel the lack of a turbo (usually hills!).

A lot of people slated the 1.7 n/a for being slow but my old one didn't half go some. The turbo models are GR8 fun, though 1st gear is almost a waste of time.

The 1.9 isn't too bad but you really need a Bosch pumped one, then run it on veg oil for a while whilst constantly hammering it to get it to go better.
