91 Bluebird 1.6 LX shite anyone ?

Was at my friends mot station today when one of his regular customers (local garage) turned up in one of his customers cars, a bluebird. I had to have a closer look and got talking to the chap, he said "it belongs to an old lady thats packed up driving and has asked us to get rid of it for her, in fact im off to the scrap yard with it from here as they hav said they`l pay me £150" i thought ive got to save it, i offered to match the £150 and as all this had took place on my friends premises i gave him £25 as a gesture of good will.

Now to the bit that may interest some one here, ive got no use for it so its up for grabs, ive used it today and been the tip in in twice to save mucking up my wifes 2008 mini.

The car is a 1991 H plate 1.6 LX (p.a.s), the reg may be of interest to someone H187MOL, it was bought new by the lady`s husband, the invoice was with the V5, he let me see this but the chap in charge of disposing of it would not let me have it as it had the lady's address and phone number on it. It was bought from AFG Nissan in Shirley, Birmingham for £8662. It has done 64000 miles and the chap I had it off said he has maintained if for years, he said there is a service book/handbook somewhere but when i asked if i could contact her for it he quickly told me that she is quite old and im not to bother her, that is one of the reasons it was to be scrapped as she didnt want strangers coming round to see it if it was advertised. It is MOT'd until 5th May 2012 unfortunately the tax runs out midnight tonight. It has decent tyres (spare is brand new and unused), appears to have had a recent radiator and battery. I have used it all day today and it drives fine, as you would expect really for a 64K Bluebird. The interior is in good condition with unused cigarette lighter. It is quite well spec'd including power steering, electric windows, central locking, electric sunroof, original Blaupunkt radio cassette player, electric aerial and everything works as it should.

As you can see from the pics the bodywork is in pretty good condition for the age, the only 2 minor areas of concern are the driver's front wing is rotten on the lower parts, there is a dent in the driver's side of the front bumper and a light dent/scrape on the passenger rear door. But overall looks pretty good.

A friend of mine this afternoon has informed me these are popular with the banger racers and it is worth at least £250. I would rather it wasn't bangered as it is way too good for that and I think will serve someone well at least til the 5th May 2012 anyway. Although even then I can't see it needing too much for a fresh MOT.

I would much rather it was put to good use by someone on here as they seem to be quite a rare sight on the roads nowerdays, if it is of any use to anyone here I would like the £250 that my friend has told me it is worth before I look at advertising elsewhere. It is at my house in Birmingham, B28, i have the V5, mot and 2 keys, it is taxed until midnight tonight and at the moment has just under a quarter of a tank of fuel so it is ready to go. I would confidently attempt a long journey in it. So don't be frightened if you are far away.

That's ace. My dad had a 1.6LS - this looks like an LX, which means PAS. Much needed! Hope someone saves it. My driveway is full. :(

Just had a look at the mot history on http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/.. ... G_10020539

And by the looks its never really needed much for its previous mot`s

Heres what i found on the site:

I had an LX Bluey as a daily smoker and it was brilliant as simple transport. I was hoping for some proper miserable stingyness from Nissan but it was plush as fook.

I have an irrational love for mine. It's so comfy, rides well and is incredibly easy to park. Someone needs this car in their life asap

It'll probably struggle to make £250 with the oval boys, but I'd be willing to have a small wager on it seeing about three ton on eBay. Nigeria looks the most likely place for it in all honesty.

Why do cars like these always get exported?

It looks very nice, it'd be perfect for me if I had over -£30 in the bank.

I think this place splits neatly into two camps;

Those what change their cars on a regular basis

& them , like me, what don't.

I suspect there may be an economic precedent to be learned from that.

But back to you Dat/Nissan

Cracking-ish car.

Had one for a (temporary) company car in 1990 ish,

drove it home - 5 M1 junctions, thought it was getting a little sloppy towards home.

Parked up - big flat tyre

replaced, took back & replaced with Montego Si - a forgotten, stripped out,rep special

The Dat was nigh on silent but spectacularly dull,

the Montego hit an indicated 130 on the Sheffield bypass with 5 of us in it!
