Well after much dragging of feet we are finally fully installed in the new yard! Stuff got in the que in front of the move, then the truck went out of test, tested then the wipers packed up  then on saturday had a lovely call at 945am telling us we had to be out by monday (TODAY!!!). So loaded the last van (a scrapper) at 11.30pm  . All done though, on to a new chapter.....

OK re visiting this thread as guess what? THIS storage has no planning either!!! FFS!! 6 months to get out. 5 businesses and 3 mobile homes this time!! How can the same shit happen twice??

Can I be the first to ask, is there no way of checking this shizzle out before spunking shit loads of money?

I was thinking this today. Not too sure. I could ask for proof of planning permission I suppose. Thing is we have more tat than ever now. The library for one and an ice cream van.

When I was looking for space to build a workshop, I went to the local council planning and council tax offices to verify the actual usage status at the location address.

That was pre-web, now should be easier.

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having.

Fred are you still living in Acton? There are some yards near to the Polish War Memorial Roundabout that usually have a sign up offering open storage, looks like a bit of an old farm and where an old pub was cleared. I've seen a skip company and car body workshop storage in these but I don't think they are all in use.

No idea on price and security but would think location would be spot on, about, 10 minutes from Pinewood and on your way if you are still in Acton. If you want to have a look, its A40 from London turn right at the Polish then immidiately they're on your left

Any way Good Luck with it all and as an added bonus if you do move here you would have Dieselnutjob and myself as neighbours :)

I looked at the pig farm last time but it was 4 times what we were paying. Presumably they do have permission. There I go again presuming!! Thing is we asked the direct question about planning permission this time but still the shite hit the fan. You almost dont mind if its dirt cheap and you know this would happen.

early research has found

more agricultural land (at least the owner was honest)

hardstanding that had been a commercial greenhouse (planning status unknown)

a 10000 sq ft barn with commercial use but over twice what we are paying!!

Also I am stunned to find out theres been a new tenant come in who paid 2 months rent only on sunday!! Surely thats fraud?

Went to see the 2 agri places. First place decided 20-30 old transits wasnt 'in keeping' with the agricultural low profile (really?) but his mate a couple of miles away was fine with it. Looks like we will go there when the massive greenhoses are gone. They have 2 vicious rottweilers and a permanantly locked gate. suits me........

Hope it works out; good luck.

cheers mate so do I. Reckon we have a few months yet though. The deposit (which I will not see again) has paid this months rent so they better not be expecting anything. The next door neighbour has been asked to put cash in the post box on the outside gate!!! As if......
