This wondrous machine is, apparently, a 1969 Bedford J2 chassis with a 20-seat Plaxton Embassy body. However, as the pilot said, that's not important right now. The bumper ends appear to be from an early F-series Vauxhall Victor, but what provided the pointy chrome bits at the top of the fins?

On you go...

Absolutely shite at this sort of thing but they look a bit Farina-ish to me.

Anyway, that is one beautiful looking coach there.

Solved, by my mate Graham from 2CVGB!

Nice to see that this kind of stuff was going on in the '60s too. I enjoy seeing Noge coaches with E46 3-series headlamps, and LAG Galaxies and Panoramics with MK2 Granny rear lights.

My favourite was whatever coach had the MK1 Fiat Punto taillights. 1297 shite points if you can tell me its name.

I know which I'd prefer to go in...

That's amazing, finding that out about the rear lights.

A little bit anoraky, mind.................. :|

Van Hool had an engineering agreement with Fiat between the late-50s and the early-80s; maybe it continued with tail-light supply...

Fairly sure I've seen a coach running Brava lights too.

Donning the anorak for a moment, I seem to recall that Duple commander and viceroy bodies used to use Mercedes rear light clusters. A tenuous link to the Solo above is that it was designed using the same principals of body-frame structure as the MCW Metrorider (Optare bought the rights to it, along with the Metrobus and Metroliner coach when MCW went tits up). Now the Metrorider in original form used the rear lights from the Mk3, and later Mk4, Escort estate.

Anorak off.

The bus driver in me knows which one I would rather drive, even without p/s and auto trans, and which one I drive every day.

And congratulations chaseracer for identifying the tail lights.
