I am seriously considering taking a storage unit in the spring to store and work on kit - there is a decidedly horrible possibility that the facist tram loving twunts aka Edinburgh City Cooncil are considering parking permits round my gaff. The cost of such in Edinburgh would be prohibative, I was thinking that space might be avalible in Fife, Dalgety Bay maybe....any ideas? Also would be happy to split with others if we could find somthing suitable. Funds are tight at the moment but I think should be ok next year and I would be happy to run it though my business. Any ideas of location?

I don't know how far away this is from you sorry but if you're first to get a begging letter in I bet they'll have some spare land soon.

Definitely interested, had thought about it a while ago. There's plenty of units around Hillend/Donibristle, but I've an idea the prices are on the salty side. Could be why the estate's half empty! Loads of farms around tho'; should be able to find something.

great - I think there is some logic here..lets see lock ups cost anything between 50 and 100 per month - if you keep the car on the road there is tax, insurance and MOT as well...I have 2 lock ups a private one which costs 100 a month and is full of junk and a council one which is rubbish and in a rough part of town and costs me 40 quid a month..

 

If a few of us all chucked in a few bob we could probably get a decent storage space for less than the above each. I have a few farming mates in the area and will put the word out

I'm surrounded by empty garages and stuff here, but the biggest problem seems to be finding out who owns them.. I have no parking at my house now, and have to park in the town car park. Next door but one house has been standing empty for many years, and has a decent driveway and space for a workshop. Next door has a huge workshop, but are asking 50K for it... its also been empty many years.

 

Summary. Lots and lots of space. Lots and lots of greedy bastards. Lots and lots of red tape.
