Replacement Car Windows

Hi,

 

I am thinking about bidding on an Austin Allegro on e-bay. Since the listing started some idiots have smashed the drivers door window.

 

Can anyone tell me if there are places that you can purchase replacement glass for older cars. I would ask on the club but it seems to be a bit of a closed society unless you are a member and the listing ends tonight.

 

He is going to scrap the car tomorrow if it doesn't sell.

Buy it, join the club, get the glass. Do it before someone buys it to take the A+ out for their Mini.

You can always bodge it with a piece of perspex or something while you hunt down the correct glass. Do it!

Autoglass or others should be able to sort you out with side windows, they don’t just do windscreens. I’ve had them do windows for the Volvo S80 and my old VW Polo after thieving scrotes smashed them.

Thanks Mr B that is very kind, must admit I have never used an A frame before but I don't have access to a vehicle with a towbar! I have got some Shiply quotes the lowest being £115!

Well I am the successful bidder and should have the car delivered tomorrow, the vendor needs it out of the way asap. Then the fun begins!

 

After my last Allegro which I purchased unseen and which the vendor missed off a few salient point, like the badly smoking engine, I said I would never buy another car unseen again !!

Slightly off topic but I don't think most people even think about the time their listing ends. I was selling Wii fits on ebay a few years ago and the trick I found was to have 1 or 2 ending at lunchtime and them time the rest so they finished after Coronation Street, Eastenders and so on. Identical products but one would finish 5 minutes before the soap finished and one 10 minutes after and the later one would get £20 more.

 

I suspect the sort of people bidding on an Allegro wouldn't be the sorts to snipe.
