I'm vey keen to own a Reliant Rebel, I have been having perverse thoughts about converting the engine to a small diesel and running it on veg oil. I'd love a van version to put to work lugging stuff about economically. I think It would make a nice counterpoint to the Scimitar One with power and perfomance and the other with economy.

 

Its probably more a case of when I own one rather than if.

Actually, looking at the list, I reckon out of the 20 models listed about 15 of 'em must be on 'ere.

 

Surprised the Tagora and 604 didn't make the list, when I checked that MOT database thingy there only seem to have been three on the road for the last few years, one of those is DNJ's (which always seems to pass) and mine featured heavily in the MOT failure rate a couple of years ago.

 

Nigel Bickle has probably got 20 odd 'only ones' by himself.

I find it sad that there are only 14 estelles left in the UK. a work colleage introduced me to shite bangernomics back in the 1980's, buying these things for £50 running them until they broke and then buying another. the bastard things never broke though. Even the shitiest mildew covered wreck would last him a year. I even got involved with getting one through an MOT and it just needed a new horn and a couple of bulbs, he was going to send it over the bridge for that....

Quite a lot of tosh in that list What about the Lancia Trevi? When I sold my one on two years ago Practical Classics themselves printed it was 6 left. This year the Beta club said it was 3.

 

SMMT subscription is how Practical Classics do it, and for that they got reams of listings to sort through by hand. Many vehicles are mis-listed: e.g. early Alfa 33 models for example - some Cloverleafs were entered as CLF, some CLOVR, some nothing after at all so it looks like you've got a base model when you certainly haven't. So separating Ladas Riva and 1500 can't be trusted, especially when they can't get the right photo up. Leyland Princess is another famously slap-dash entry.

 

My Alfa 6 is MOTd but on a SORN so they won't have counted it. Maybe tonight I could online tax it and we'd get a dramatic improvement in survivors. Not that it will get used enough to warrant handing Osborne the cash.

 

Friendly local banger racer did tell me the other day that 'Ladas are harder to find than Granadas'. I'm sure he meant at racing prices, but still.

How do you find out how many examples(in my case Safranes)actually exist or are roadworthy?

This MOT list thingy i,ve heard of before but can,t find out how its all done,any leads?

Would like to find out how many Safranes (92-96) are left...

Suppose it doesn,t narriow it to engine CC?
