No shit. I did explain to him that the Mk2 Escort is about the easiest car there is to restore, that all the panels are available and that he had the money to buy them.

When you add up the figures - I'd be expecting the car completely rebuilt and painted for that amount of money!

Really sorry to hear about this - mechanic obviously assumes you have lots of money so can therefore be dry bummed.

 

300 hours? If he extracted the raw materials from the ground for the steel work on the car it would'nt take 300 hours.

 

If it were mine and I was locked in a stalemate I know what I would do - I would go and wreck the thing.

 

Not nice I know, but if you cant have it then neither will he. The scrap value would cover the cost of his labour.

I've decided. I'll just leave it there until he comes to his senses.

 

Either he'll finish it and come to his senses money wise in which case I'll pay him what was agreed and go get it, or he'll never finish it / be insistent on the daft amount he wants.

 

There's only one way he'll get any money from me, and he's going to have to wait for it. I'm surfing evilbay now for an MX5 to make into something amusing for the few weeks of summer we might get.
