Anyone fancy something Polish

There was an ad in gumtree for a tidy Polish-regged 1991 Audi 100 with sequential LPG (!!) for just 900 quid. I did spend a few minutes considering it, but, according to the interwebs at least, the Polish change-of-ownership procedure is a right pain in the backside, and you'd probably have to make multiple runs to their embassy in London and whatnot. Obviously, if you're willing to take the risk of doing it without the proper paperwork, you could have some good fortune and end up a WINNA, but I want to minimise my chances of being prosecuted for buying stolen goods or whatever.

If only there was a thread for this sort of thing.

What, you mean a special thread for eBay tat? You could have something there!:D

I think those are RWD. 1.8 K VVC lobbed in=WIN.

I'm kind of tempted by the caro but if I got another I'd also want the diesel engine in it. Then the Mrs could get rid of her corsa and we could be a two fso family.

Imagine using the fitment of a K series Rover engine to be a selling point! How quaint!!!!!!!

AFAIK, 125p is RWD while Polonez/Caro are FWD.

I bet you could get decent dollar for the gearbox from that FSO, theres plenty of folk wanting to install K-series engines longitudinally. In fact I believe the short-lived 'Isle of Wight' frogeye replica of the 1990's was so equipped for just that purpose, straight from the factory. I wonder how many of those K-powered FSO's were built?

Obv the true shiter would frown on such mercenary behaviour, myself included.

I would honestly paint that FSo matte black, cut the springs and remove the bumpers, and possibly make a profit over on RR. An ex-girlfriend's dad had one of those in '93 and shite or not, I couldn't live with driving it much.

You can never win with that strategy. You might get congratulated or complimented for a bit of spring choppage, matt blackage or sticker bombage, but that aint gonna pay a brothaz rent y0. And cars with that treatment are inevitably 100% unsellable no matter how many people profess a liking for them. They are inevitably weighed, (or eBayed, and purchased by a local weigher-in) as far as I can see.

Agree. I sold a bloody tidy cortina crusader with 42k and fsh to a bloke who promptly painted it matt black which made it look shit ( no idea why - the paintwork was good) and within 6 months he was moaning when he couldnt sell it, and it ended up getting weighed in. Satin black paint is the kiss of death for any car.

Quite a few, IIRC; the Caro wasn't sold in the UK with the Fiat engine IIRC, only the 1.4 K-series or 1.9 XUD, certainly seems to have been a popular option in Poland where, I suspect, a K-series was probably an improvement on the pretty dismal offerings available already.

Pretty sure the petrol versions sold in the UK were the old 1.5/1.6 FIAT-derived engines. The K-series variant wasn't sold here - I think that came after FSO withdrew from the UK.
