Decluttering car magazines - Autocar, What Car? & Top Gear

Evening, Shite Pickers...

 

I want to de-clutter my spare bedroom and I would like to offload some of my old What Car? magazines. Tried selling them on eBay a few years back to no avail. All I just require is the postage costs to be covered (2nd class). Can be dispatched in padded envelopes.

 

I would rather they went to a good home than tossed into the recycling bin.

 

December 1986 issue for £2.16 in very good condition. This issue might interest the Francophiles...

April 1989 issue for £3.15 in good condition - Front cover torn off at the bottom right coner. This issue is the What Car? Cars of the Year 1989 issue. Quite a thick issue hence the larger postage costs.

Features the new mark 3 Ford Fiesta as a New Car feature and as a group road test against the Vauxhall Nova, Rover metro, Renault 5, Peugeot 205.

January 1998 Golf IV GTi & Alfa 156

November 1999 Quite a thick edition as it is the A to Z of all new cars on sale in the UK + new Rover 25

 

Also have issues going into the 2000s but I can't be arsed to detail those just yet.

I had trouble shifting about 4 years worth of Auto Express, from when it was a 40p weekly. Issues 2 onwards went in the skip, I've still got issue 1 but it's tatty, it was rubbish paper.

There is a double page spread of the Renault Safrane RT 2.0 in the Awards issue 1993 that I have.

That car won 'Best Executive car' in the What Car? Car of the Year awards.

It has a big photo of K522 NPO in burgandy with a few 'Pop Art' Roy Lichtenstein - style characters in the background with a column of text on the right hand side.

No Safrane action in the Feb '94 issue I'm afraid. The closest is a new car article on the Laguna and two other features including the Espace.

 

FYI, according to the new car data section it appears that WC? tested an automatic 2.0 RT Safrane in Jan '93 and the V6 RXE in Sept '93.

The 2 1980s issues of What Car? Have now been sold, thanks to those that bought them.

 

Awards Issue 1993 can be yours for £2.61. As the titles suggest, it's the What Car? Car of the Year awards for 1993 - so there were actually 13 issues of What Car? that year (+ an extra bit of £ for Haymarket Publication,

 

New car features include a 3 page article on the Vauxhall Corsa *drools* , Volvo 850 estate (1 page), Peugeot 306 ( 2 pages) and a 3 page article on the Citroen Xantia.

I have 2 old issues of Autocar & Motor for sale.

 

1. 5 October 1988 issue. Cover feature is on the 'new' Vauxhall Cavalier mark 3 & the 2.0 SRi model is tested against the Sierra 2.0i Ghia & Peugeot 405 1.9 SRi. Also features an interview on a younger Max Mosley , a single road test on the shite spec Renault 5 Campus 5 door, Running report on Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3-16 Cosworth, Paris Motor show, 1930s Alfa 8C & the 1988 Alfa 164 V10 'ProCar' .

 

There is a spilt tea stain on the bottom right of the pages but is feint and the pages are readable but still in very good condition. Can despatch this 154 page magazine for £1.50 via paypal or a cheque in a jiffy envelope.

 

2. 21 May 1997 (now just called 'Autocar'). Cover feature is a preview on the 2nd generation Mazda MX-5. New car article on the mark 1 Fiat Punto Sporting 16v (1242cc FIRE engine), twin SUV road test on the Honda CR-V & Toyota RAV-4. 2 page article featuring best used cars - many of the usual Autoshite fodder like Bluebird, Jetta, Sierra, Volvo 850, Merc 190e + others (brief write ups on each car). A decent Porsch 911 article with nice pics with new 911 Carrara 4 & a 1965 2 litre 911 S. OMG - Citroen Xantia Activa article!!! 10,000 mile test (I recall a few years ago someone from Holland was seeking Xantia Activa articles via eBay!!! *kicks self*). Single car road test on Ford Galaxy 2.3 GLX.

 

114 pages long. Also £1.50 for this but this one is too wide to fit in a Jiffy - will wrap it up well though.
