Top tips?

I thought there was a thread for this (top tips) but couldn't find it, so here goes:

For small scratches, scuffs and stone chips spray some of the paint into the cap of the aerosol, stir it up a little with a small artist's type brush then wait a couple of minutes for it to go a bit thicker. Then simply use the brush to touch up small scratches etc and Robert's your mum's brother. Don't let the paint get too thick though as it's far harder to apply.

Anyone want to add any other potentially useful car related tips?

I have had good results by applying paint with a match to small chips.

TOP TIP: Do not, under any circumstances, get red cayenne pepper on your nob.

Carb cleaner removes stubborn sticky bits from paint, and, basically, everything else.

Use a cheese grater on hardening filler to flatten it out.

Admitting to using salt in the 100% water coolant system instead of antifreeze during periods of winter where the chances of it freezing was also 100%, and then claiming 'it actually worked' pisses off members on automotive internet forums.

ash, I got red cayenne pepper (powder) on my knobend last night, it felt like a rod of decaying plutonium had taken up residence inside the length of my 'jap's eye'.

Orange-coloured translucent glass paint from art shops is very effective at turning normal bulbs into bulbs suitable for use with clear indicator lenses, such as the ones fitted to Volvo V70s ;)

When removing track rod ends and other ball joints that sit in a taper, don't hit the end of the thread and try and knock them out - Hit the side of the steering arm hard, and the taper will bounce out and you'll not bugger the end of the thread up

Normal orange car paint works too. If you put a thin coat of wheel silver over this, then you get OMG SILVATEK bulbs for a fraction of the price. It'll probably flake off in about ten minutes tho.

Bid on/won something on eBay you dont really want? Just tell the seller that your wife/kids/hamster/au pair bid on it. Its a convincing excuse and most sellers will be sympathetic to the awkward predicament you are now in thanks to the irresponsible behaviour of members of your household.

If you make use of your car's reserve fuel tank, move the lever back to 'main tank' after filling up. Otherwise you will weep with frustration next time you run dry.

Thread had more resistance than the taper! That stopped it!
