That'll either be a late Mk 23 or an early mk 28.5, it depends whether there is a 32mm or 33mm gap between the slats in the grille.

Transits are ace. Fact. When exactly does the MOT expire?

If only Fred was here to fill us in on the details.

In fact.... I've just twigged it! Revolting Peasant is FredTransit registering under a different name! Their writing style is identical. And now selling Transits on here...... busted!!

Is the bit of plastic under one of the headlights snapped off?

I wouldnt mind a transit, I seem to recall they are ace to drive, late RWD ones anyway. Never driven one of the Mk72 versions with fwd and fancy electronic diesely bits though.

Transits are one of the better vans, out of all the stuff I've hired (Iveco, Merc, Transits, a Crafter) they're the most capable. Possibly because GK Ford seem to spec their rental fleet up with the better ones, I think they even had a 130hp version. I'm sure diesel is RWD, they do drift nicely. Drive more like a car than any of the others, especially the Iveco crap which we have at work.

I was told that all LWB and special order (AA spec) SWB were RWD, and ordinary SWB FWD on the "new" Transits.

As much as I loathe modern Transit's for the careless dealers and the'’re woeful reliability record from my own, and former employer’s experience, the ‘smiley face / oval grille’ jobbies were brilliant. Service them on the dot and they’ll run on and on...

The last of the line ''’ and ''’ plates were usually kitted up a bit with central locking and leccy windows/mirrors. The company my father works for had one and it was a cracking and very reliable workhorse. Not at all that bad to drive as far as a van goes either. I like 'em.

The only issue I have with these particular Transits are rampant rust.

The efforts that come after it, these ones, were frankly awful. I've already listed the numerous expensive faults of the examples my former employer had. They handled like boats on the occasions they actually worked(ish) too. I can’t comment on the latest model, effectively a facelifted version of this.

im very very tempted

can you pm me some mot fail details and if possible a couple of shots of the van dents please

Bad driving and the fact you can remove the front panel to access the engine so probably rushed back together.

They were made from the same eggshell-strength plastic as Mondeo bumpers?

Did we ever get confirmation of MOT expiry on this?

and taxed for a further 7 days? or a month and 7 days?

Another 6 days. end of april. sunday. :)

well, as its out of mot, transport becomes a problem, cheap van but im out

Technically getting it back minus MOT isn't too bad. As long as you book it in then head straight there (MOT centre) when you pick the van up it should be o.k. Fokelore (and internet fonts of knowledge) say you can get away with it if you're absolutely miles from home but it's a bit risky I expect.

Anyhow it's by-the-by, £200 is a right bargain as it'd probably weigh in for more and there'll be decent money in breaking it first.
