retro80sboy Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Got it advertised elsewhere at 250, but for an autoshitter - £200 will secure it on your drive. Model: Ford Escort 1.3LYear: 1990Millage:105,000tax: end March 2011m.o.t: end July 2011Location: Wrexham, North WalesContact - PM me. It is a 5 door model with a 1297cc engine. It has an MOT until late July 2011 and tax until the end of March 2011. Its a pretty solid car, no welding or rot. It will need a new drivers door though as the paintwork on this door is very poor and the bottom of the door is quite rusty. Other things that may need addressing are - * Steering lock and horn are broken. * Passenger side wing mirror is broken * Car runs ok but stutters a bit now and again, could do with a good service. * Previous owner was a painter and decorator so there are spots of paint on the interior and inside the boot. * surface rust on bottom of the passenger door. * Handbrake needs attention. No timewasters please, Ive not got any time to waste!. Car is located in Wrexham, North Wales, which is very accessable and is about 40 miles from Liverpool. Hopefully it can go to someone who can appreciate it and keep it on the road for a few years to come yet. **PLEASE IGNORE THE BLACK BLOTCHES ON THE PICTURES (like the one on the back bumper) THEY ARE JUST BLOTCHES ON MY CAMERA LENSE.** Thanks
Cavcraft Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Bargain. The door would patch up easily enough with some fibreglass and filler.
oman5 Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Total bargain. wish I had the space, that really floats my boat
scruff Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Complete bargain!!! That's real budget motoring sat right there
dollywobbler Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Tempting. Are these a four or five speed? I could do with something that can handle motorways and has economy closer to the 2CV than the Scimitar.
pogweasel Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Regardless of gear numbers, I don't equate a 20-year-old CVH with relaxed motorway cruising.
dollywobbler Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 True enough - gearing according to my book of sad facts is about equivalent to the BX, so that'll be over 3000rpm at 70 in a car with an engine not known for its refinement... Sadly, more likely to find acceptance with the wife than a feisty, slightly ratty Alfa Romeo...
Richard Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Mk4s didn't get the 1300 CVH, it'll be a Valencia. Some people regard this as a bad thing but I don't.
trigger Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yep, That will be the old rattley pushrod engine, They not as smooth or refined as the CVH
sporty-shite Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Smooth? Refined? Relaxed? Am I on Autoshite here, or have I been accidentally diverted to some poncey new car forum? Harsh, noisy and a little temperemental are the Autoshite Way, surely?
retro80sboy Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 well, its still up for grabs. Might even keep it if no one here wants it as I really can't be arsed dealing with the idiot public who will expect a brand new Focus for this money, then scrap it when the MOT runs out. By the way - it is a 5 speed.
retro80sboy Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 shameless bump as tax runs out tomorrow. still time to drive it away!
retro80sboy Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Ill keep bumping this shamefully until someone buys it! I REEAAAALLY dont want it to a knuckledragger in the local paper who will scrap it when the MOT runs out. BIG BONUS TIME! - for an extra 20 quid ill throw in a set of xr3 cloverleaf alloys. They need a refurb, but hopefully it will convince someone on here that they NEED this car in their life!.
retro80sboy Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 How much does it WEIGH? hence why I wont sell it for under 200 quid.
retro80sboy Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 I still have this car by the way. I am determined to see it go to a good home as its too solid to scrap and I really don't want the hassle of selling it to a local meat head. any interest whatsoever? id take £190 now if anyone on here wants it. MOT til late July.
scooters Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Torsten!!! I would have bought this last week but now have a full stable...if you still have it after my Yugo drive (the one when I decide that I can't live with it - Bickle gives me 2 weeks) I may well be interested!
retro80sboy Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Someone will buy it eventually! Hopefully before the MOT runs out! I really need the space. Beginning to wish id never 'saved' this old beast now.
trigger Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I just think it's a bad time to be selling cars, Looking at my Bora, I really thought I'd be fighting them off but no chance, All I'm getting is phone calls making silly offers for it.

We're now in that weird time of year where people are shitting themselves about up coming holiday costs and haven't long finished paying for Chrimbo. Add to that the worry about being laid off/having a pay freeze etc they're tightening their belts. One way or the other this (slow sales) happens at least once, usually twice a year then the market picks up again.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Sorry, but that's weighbridge fodder. I'd be filling it with as many old brake discs and fridges as possible and sending it across the scales. When you can buy a mint low mileage Primera for 400 quid, why the fuck would anyone want this?
Station Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 It's unusual. I didn't think I'd ever be saying that about a mk4 Escort. I remember them being quite comfy to drive as well.

When you can buy a mint low mileage Primera for 400 quid, why the fuck would anyone want this? My thoughts exactly. I respect shite-worshippers, but I would never willingly choose something as bleak as a base-spec Escrot.
Cavcraft Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Yeah, about that. Website title: Autoshite. General idea: love of crap cars. Previous forum complaints: scrappage scheme. Thread contents: cheap car for sale that's too good to be scrapped. Replies: OMG WOT A LOWD OV SHIT DOWNT BYE IT. Suggestion: If you don't want it or think it's shit keep your opinions to yourself.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 No way is a base spec Escort more bleak than a Nissan Primera, however cheap that Primera is and however many plebdazzler extras are fitted.
