Every single shittyrover I have seen for sale seems to have some manner of fundamental fault on it. Not sure wether this is due to crapness of design or the inherent fuckwittedness of the typical owner (i.e. The sort of mong who used to buy ladas on £1 down finance...)

What POG said, type in CityRover onto fleabay, and about 33% of the cars that come up are "Non Runners" or "Spares Or Repair", 33% are hideously overpriced, and the rest are a bit drab, sad looking 6 owner cars for £999 (ish/ono).

But saying that, if i was commuting, i would.

Hey I wonder if, given the engine's mysterious Peugeot origins you could wang the shite favourite XUD in it.

I think it was the diesel version, which was based on the TUD. This was of course also fitted to the Rover Metro. In that case a bit of reverse engineering on the petrol front could eliminate K-series HGF for once and all :D

Typically, the choice of next car is drifting somewhat. Last time it was a Suzuki Cappuccino that ended up being a Scimitar, this time the little Perodua may be turning into something a bit larger.

Has occurred to me that I haven't really replaced the BX. The Scimitar has the role of plaything, albeit with more practicality than most - but the thirst and discomfort is going to prevent me using it too heavily. The 2CV is easily up to being used heavily, but when you've got 350 miles to cover in a day (like tomorrow) it does leave me wishing I had something swifter/quieter.

So, thoughts are turning to something like the second generation Seat Ibiza TDI - found a peachy looking one on t'interwebs. Only theory at the moment as the Mini won't be being advertised until next week at the earliest. Have spotted a couple of really tidy looking Cav Turbo Diesels as well, though I recall that the seats are crap and it might be a bit large. Don't really want anything else PSA as that'd be too close to the BX. Have even been considering the Ford Focus - though as mentioned elsewhere, they're not exactly cheap. Ignoring the size question, I must admit to temptation in the form of a Rover 75...
