£1,300?? why is this even a topic on the forum? The topic should read "My latest purchase - S class heaven"

At that price its bordering on a throw away after 12 months car, just buy it and stop worrying about everything. You could also have a heart attack whilst taking a dump you know... dont let it put you off going for one though

Get it bought asap.

Its not for sale for £1,300. FD thinks its worth £1,300.

All the classifieds I see etc are looking at least double if not more. If there are any going for that price it looks like there are some buyers on here.

i dont think its worth £1300, the trade does though, people always over value there own cars,an example of car values is the 02 735i that i bought today 106000 miles and it was a little over 3k,but hey if you want to pay over the odds....

how much would you value a 51 reg b6 audi a4 1.8t quattro se with 101000 on it?

Posted

Audi prices are mental. Have been giving careful consideration to an A4 or A6 TDi and they're making fucking daft prices, which to be honest appear to be far too much for the age/mileage of the majority of them.

Posted

Trade prices are exactly that. For the trade. The prices are setup to make sure the dealer doesn't take a hit on the car and it may make a few quid or at least break even at the auction. The reason the S-Class and various other big cars are making shite trade money is because CAP and glasses are taking the long view that these cars do rubbish mpg and are hard to fix. Mix that with everyone being skint and the fuel being what it is therefore it's a risk for the dealer to even take this car in at all so the low price has to reflect that risk.

I heard at one point some dealers stopped taking in Vectras as the price they could offer was so low the offer was more likely to offend the punter than being honest and turning the car away.

some dealers are a bit narrow minded when it comes to not taking cars back in,probably why they are smaller and not as successful .turning away a px is like turning a punter away! about the auctions is wrong though,we will quite often bring in a car at £1100 and it might make £800 at auction before the fee's,but i suppose if you aren't doing it all day everyday or were in the trade 20 years ago you might not be up to date with how things are at the coal face.

cap and glass's don't take the long term view,it goes month by month, some cars can go up some months aswell, and they get the prices from real cars sold at real auctions.

rev i buy/sell 200 cars per month,so i do have an idea what stuff is worth!

I don't care how many shoe boxes you sell to neds on finance. I used to sell BMW's from a main dealer and have seen/bought/valued rather more S Class Mercs that you ever will. :D

Exactly old Son, used to have a job you will never have. You stick to your equivalent of selling beans in Asda! :D

Such blazing eloquence in a 50 quid suit!

Tell us - out that '200 cars bought and sold in a month', how many fall into the 'sold' category........... :?:

lolzathon,i have nothing to prove,i could be an arrogant cunt, earnings, houses etc but i won't.

Thing is, you do.

You've just been spouting off about 200 cars a month. So let's have it.

For reference, a good salesman in a Merc/BMW dealership (such as myself) would be doing around 120-200 cars a year depending on dealership size.

A good mass market salesman such as my mate Mark across the road who sells Ford for GK Ford near me will be doing a solid 30 cars a month. Obviously you're a superstar, but 200 a month is a bit puzzling.

What's that I can smell...................

Wow, look at this thread now. Thankfully it's gone from a discussion about Mercs to an e-penis flexing megathon

Next week: ex-salesman 'A' had better butties for his dinner than current salesman 'B'.

A fight ensues on the pitch, an ambulance arrives and the police report injuries amounted to one bruised ego, a slightly gravel rashed stapler and several paper clips with slip on Clarke's shoes marks.

Sad, but unfortunately it went off course when some expert starting banging on about glasses guide, £1300 W220's that don't exist and 200 cars a month. Sadly, he was preaching to those that have been there and done it and can see the rather obvious flaws in the argument.

Willy waving? Not at all Mate. Car sales is a notoriously poorly paid/aggro involved profession these days with the worst pay in the 'prestige' sector. With the average commission on a used car in the region of £100, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that even selling 200 cars a year (whiuch is really going some - 150 is the norm) that even on top of the £12'500 basic, you're earning at best the national average wage after tax.

In the good old days you were a well paid order taker. These days you have to not only sell the car but do every last bit of paperwork, chase the workshop/bodyshop/valeters etc. The Ford guy mentioned earlier does about a car a day and he very much earns his day off. It's very hard work. That's why I finally jacked it in as I didn't fancy a heart attack at 40. If you've ever wondered why some car salesman can be arseholes, now you know. Dealing with the public does that to you.

So - has this magnificent Mercedes been purchased?

Aaaw, poor little Poppit getting all hacked off because he's been spectacularly owned in Public. And bless, he's resorted to name calling. Typical, but hardly unexpected really.

Come on then Pal - many cars of of these '200' do you SELL.

Failure to answer will be another (yes, another) fail on your part. I can picture you now in your sweaty 50 quid Next suit shuffling uncomfortably!

As another aside Mr Daft - try, just for once, to use capital letters when beginning a sentence. I may then begin to take you even remotely seriously. On the other hand............

Looks well in that colour. Audi prices over here are crazy, so I wouldn't hazard a guess. I think the great Northern Ireland motoring public has just discovered Audis. My best mate got an A6 3.0 Quattro Diseasel, and it's a belter, way way better than a 530d. In the recent OMG SNOW CHAOS he was much in demad to pull out stranded cars

what port do you want your prince brother to collect it from?

It really is a wild guess but I bet that Audi would retail (at a used car dealers) for about £2750-£3000.
