Tone's underwhelming spots 11/2011 - RENNER!

Scarcely a prolific start, but seeing as I've started snapping random shite out and about in an effort to further antagonise SWMBO, have these:

I saw this, I nearly crashed. "Fuck me, an Applause! Wait, no it's a Charade saloon. Shit the bed" I said to her as I screech to a halt outside her main Uni building in front of a load of her peers (she's a mature student, like. We're not young or owt) and then I took this picture, as if to prove to myself I hadn't dreamt it. When did you last see one of them? I crow (to myself, pointlessly, as Ms_Tone and Jr_Tone frown and sigh at each other).

Then I get back on here after my week oop north and find the whole board's littered with Charade saloons. Bastards. Diggin' the spoiler, mind.

Then we headed for a nice lunch and I embarassed her again by cocking about for ages blocking up the car park at the beefeater taking a picture of this wonky-plated 300ZX. It was quite tidy. How long did they spend polishing that, but couldn't be arsed lining the number plate up? Does my head in, that. Nicer than my car, mind.

Well, it's a start, isn't it. Have a glamour shot of my gimp to pad it out a bit:

Bloody hell. 'work' is probably stretching it a bit. Does everyone in Retford know everyone?

Christ, that's pretty much the only reason i'm going! Mk1 jettas without roofracks! Oh, and some wartburgs and that.

I spotted a Wartburg in Retford..! Not all that bothered about anything VW unless it's a K70. I agree though, there should atleast be some shite. One of the other lads going should atleast show a bit of interest too.

Dave's got a secret shite streak in him as well. Dunno if you saw his astras he had but the red one was 100%. He did (rightly) laugh right in my face when he saw my pale blue Felicia with the speed holes though.

I have 3 of these. 2 are in Bluebird Coaches liveries and the other was like yours until I painted it in the cream colour First used up here until they went over to the Barbis colourscheme.

The lower 3200 version was common with Midland Bluebird buses around Falkirk up until about 2003. I used to travel on one most days to work.

I have 3 as well! IIRC one 2 are national express, and one is either Stanstead Express (?) or Gatwick Express. Or something along those lines. I shall interrogate the folks and try and get them to root around the loft. They were my favourites, cos if you ground them against the base of the fireplace it sounded like a proper engine noise. 8)

Ooh! Is it bright Orange? I have a posh Lima (?) Strathclyde Transport train in OO, which was what I used to get up and down from Kirkie to Glasgow/Edinburgh in the dim & distant. It's in my folks loft though, as my dad "claims" it's his.

I have a Strathclyde Transport bus stop sign at home though in the orange and black livery.

And then today's epic joy - a trip to Newburn Hall Motor Museum.

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1986711

It was founded and run by a bloke called Tony Pirelli (who used to be a stunt man in his day) until he passed away a couple of years ago, and now his Widow and a family friend run the place. It's ace. Family friend will take you round and show you stuff, and generally be amiable. Prices online say it's £2 for adults and £1 for kids, but it cost us £8 (2 adults and the bairn) so I'm not sure what they've gone up too, but they've gone up. It's an old army place of some sorts, with a hall at the back which has a few cars in. Ace though.

"total loss" oil system on an old Standard (which featured in Supergran, apparently). The oil is pumped up onto that rocker shaft, and then just drains down onto the road. When it get's low, the back pressure blows a little whistle to alert you to stop and re-fill the sump. I had a capri that did that, but without the whistle.

Ace workshop left pretty much as it was when the owner died. I somehow failed to take a picture of a bookshelf out of shot, which was just stacked with new-old stock oil filters and brake shoes and stuff. Some are privately owned and stored there (splitty bus was recently back from someone's holiday), some are owned by the museum having been donated or restored by the late owner.

Well, lets see shall we?

2 adults + 1 child = £8. So let's assume that an adult fee is now £3 and a child £2. However , this means that the child price has increased 100% compared to just 50% for an adult, which doesn't seem right.

Maybe it's £3.25 an adult and £1.50 a child which I would say is slightly more fair. Unless the child footfall is pretty non-existant, so they kept the child price at £1 and put the adult up to £3.50 as this would have a greater effect on revenue.

Depending, of course at what age they class a person to be a child instead of adult which I would personally put at 15 or less....so it would depend on the age of your 'bairn' because they may have charged 3 adult fees which actually doesn't add up to £8 at all.

I reckon the thieving fuckwit on the till has charged you wrong.....did you get a receipt?

Excellent museum though!
