barrett Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Just got back from the Goodwood morning pre-73 meet with Seth, had a great day, the first 'event' I've been to since Stondon Loads of pretty great stuff amongst the Healeys and Sherpa coupes... PIXORZ:Lovely little Sebring Sprite really looked the part. I have a non-standard spridget bonnet fetish so this was right up my dirty little alleySebring Sprite by barrogance, on Flickr This R4 is the earliest one I've seen outside of France, and was being unfairly overlooked in favour of it's more exotic companionsRenault 4 by barrogance, on FlickrRenault 4 + Company by barrogance, on Flickr OH HAI WE DA SWEENEY AND WE LYKE UNDERSTEER LOLMorris Marina by barrogance, on Flickr Never seen a Piper up close before, these look great I reckon. I imagine it would get boring explaining to people it's not a dodgy Beetle-based kit car thoughPiper by barrogance, on Flickr This was a horrible colour, but I still wouldAlfa-Romeo 1750 by barrogance, on Flickr These are great, obviouslyLancia Fulvia Zagato by barrogance, on Flickr
barrett Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Another first-time sighting for me was this Taunus fastback, I really like these things, much rather have one of these than a 'TinaFord Taunus 'Knudsen' by barrogance, on Flickr Marina rally (?) car looked pretty buffMorris Marina by barrogance, on Flickr Amazingly, there were THREE almost identical Touring bodied Flaminia coupes thereLancia Flaminia x2 by barrogance, on Flickr Into the paddock, no one was really paying this much attention. I guess the flat-cap brigade had no idea just how desireable these are..OMG RWD AE86 by barrogance, on Flickr One of the best cars there was the orange Prinz, lovely original plates and a great colour. I'd be very happy taking this homeNSU Prinz 1000 by barrogance, on Flickr Rarest car there? This Fiat 600 was lovely on it's own, but that two-tone job and the side flash mark this out as an 'Elaborata' special built by coachbuilder Viotti. Again, no one seemed to really pay this much attention, but I imagine it's unique in this countryFiat 600 by Viotti by barrogance, on Flickr This S800 looked great with the cut down 'screen and alloysHonda S800 by barrogance, on Flickr Velox Ute must be rare over here, was nicely battle scarredVauxhall Velox Ute by barrogance, on Flickr This is the super-rare JDM-only 240ZG, the nice lady who owned it reckoned there are only three in the UK. There weren't many Japanese cars present, but the ones that were were all pretty rare and unusual....Datsun Fairlady 240ZG by barrogance, on Flickr ....Like this '67 Subaru 360! These are bloody mental, and again this is the first time I've ever seen one up close. The owner reckoned it was the rarest car there, but I don't think he saw the 600 Subaru 360 by barrogance, on FlickrSubaru 360 by barrogance, on Flickr MEH-HI-COFord Escort Mexico by barrogance, on Flickr Lovely early Fulvia parked next to an S-Type belonging to Mr. M. TWO Rover-based Marauders! IIRC they only built 12 (or maybe 15?) so this was a very unusual sight.Marauders + Aston by barrogance, on Flickr
barrett Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Right.Whatever your feelings on VWs, you can't really fault the shite qualities of the 411/412. Looked like a nice solid old unrestored car too.VW 412 Variant by barrogance, on Flickr This Citroen 2cv was amazing. Every panel was rusted, dented or otherwise fooked, the repairs to the body were something else, bits of steel wire holding the wings on, plate riveted onto to the door, and what looked like tin foil on the leading edge of the bonnet. The roof was COVERED in lichen too... owning a car like this is a guarantee of Autoshite god-like status, and I would've told the chap about us except he seemed like he was probably a bit madCitroen 2cv by barrogance, on FlickrParked opposite was an even older (canvas bootlid) example in almost as bad condition!Citroen 2cv by barrogance, on Flickr Nice early Amazon B18 looked properly mintVolvo Amazon by barrogance, on Flickr This not-really-shite-but-quite Bentley looked great, and I love cars with glassed-in numberplates. dollywobbler Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Nice pics. Thanks! That ratty 2CV hides a 602cc engine.
seth Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Nice photos Barrett! It was great to have the company of someone so knowledgeable of obscurities! It was the busiest breakfast meet I've been to at Goodwood and the variety and quality was superb as always. I shall sort through my photos and add a few later perhaps.
boobydoo Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Well,at least someone had an enjoyable Sunday! I was working! That Taunus would have got my vote for the day...the little Fiat 600 looks great with that 'designer' stripe...I'd have spent at least 20 mins looking at that.
skattrd Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Looks like a great variety of cars, awesome pics too Barrett
dollywobbler Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Pretty sure that Taunus was at the NEC show, guarding one of the doorways.
chaseracer Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Amazingly, there were THREE almost identical Touring bodied Flaminia coupes there Nice. GR9 4 binning off an Alp when the Aston fails to explode.
seth Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Apologies if any of these match Barretts. We could play snap! Colour form the BL selection? Its a Mini. But its a genuine Crayford. This obviously wasn't tempted up to Brooklands. We were wondering if this was the perennial 65k Escort? Flaminia behinds. This looked like a one owner car.... Avon Safety wheels are the shite alloy of choice I reckon. Barrett turns on the charm. Anyone know if this badge on the Subaru has any significance? This SAAB was one of my picks of the day. 2 Stroke 95s are extremely rare. Owner also has a 93 but the estate was more practical for getting the two kids in the back. And my haul thanks to Snr Barrett. Thanks!
michiel Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Great (car) pics - 360! Dunno what the Over Top's about, but it seems to have some sort of hardtop-like contraption...
Justin Case Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Only on Autoshite could anyone take a photo of a Marina and ignore not just one but two Lamborghini Miuras Great photos, thanks for posting
