Lankytim Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Well done Mark!! I drove without insurance unknowingly. If you can prove that it was reasonable for you to think you had insurance, and it wasn't your fault that you didn't then you could well have a defence. If you were driving a works vehicle for your employer for example, its reasonable for you to assume you are insured without insisting to see the relevant paperwork first. If you you missed a payment on direct debit and they cancelled your policy then that isn't a defence, although i'm sure cancellation of insurance has to be notified via a letter from the insurers before its enforceable.. I dunno...... I'd see a solicitor pronto!
AXrescuer Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Well done mate. I suppose now you'll be looking to get a mortgage on a year's insurance?
ChinaTom Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Well done M5. Keep that licence clean and don't get too depressed about the insurance and fuel costs.
babydriver Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Well Done Mate, you now have the freedom of the open road, hope you enjoy driving like my son and I do, He's paid nearly 6k over the last 2 years on a micra 1 litre, Just got himself a 1.4 xsara so we gonna try and get some cover for that today. Congrats Anyway
Minimad5 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Thanks everyone Picked up my soon to be Daily Driver today - 309 from Rob, great chap. Really happy with the 309 to be honest, i just plan on rebuilding the carb and giving it a thorough clean out. Along with a full service and check the timing whilst i'm there.Only spotted a place or two were a blob of weld is needed, and a right good going over with a polishing mop too.Other than that - Myself and Cavette made it back without a hick-up (Okay so the car died at the end of Robs road, but it fired back up again and didn't die again) Even managed to "pip" Pete-M off the lights ........
Pete-M Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Even managed to "pip" Pete-M off the lights ........ So THAT's what you were doing? Class. I was wondering why your motah was at 5000 rpm!
Cavcraft Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Pug 1 Jag 0. Well, it would have been nice had it actually happened and Pete didn't just breathe on the throttle Drove back very well all told, slight shudder here and there to start off with but settled down o.k, didn't stall (or even try to) once we hit the open road and felt a decent, solid drive. I expect the good run out did it well and some light work will see it right Mark. Think you did well with the car mate and for that sort of money you can't go wrong.
Pete-M Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Definately worth the wongage. Dead straight, and didn't sound horrific like they normally do. I suspect it'll go on for a good while yet.
retro80sboy Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Glad the old beast has gone to a good home. look forward to seeing it when you have spent a few hours on it. nice to put some names to faces and meet up with Cavette again. all in all a good - autoshite - result.
