ive had the car a few weeks, bought it off my cousin who took it in in a part ex, but lately its failing to start in the morning and is not reliable enough to be my daily hack.

not sure whats the matter with it as it seems like it wants to start but just doesnt turn over. I cant be bothered with messing about or spending any money on it so ill let it go.

Its taxed until Feb 2011 and MOT'd until the summer. (I will need to get a new MOT certificate for it because my cousin cant find the old one).

I want 175 for the old girl, it owes me a little bit more than that all in, but Id rather it go to an autoshitter other than go back to my cousin who says he will take it, strip it - sell/reuse some parts and scrap the rest.

It also has £20 quids worth of fuel in it - which in a few weeks the way petrol prices are going could be worth at least £400 worth of fuel!

It should drive away with a tow and a bump start as I had it going like this last week.

any more info can be suplied if anyone is interested. any takers?

It does look like a tidy little thing.

my sister had a 309

they are about 300% nicer to drive than similar aged Astras and Escorts and don't seem to rust

they are quite light so handle well and have decent economy

in fact they handle like a 205 but a bit more stable which is a good point I think

the rear suspension can seize up just like 205s though

I don't really know why they weren't more popular in their day

Yeah, about this '300% better' thing. I drove one about 18 months ago for about ten miles and it wasn't even 3% better than crawling across ten miles of broken glass in my scrundapps in the middle of a Russian winter.

However... I *might* have found a buyer for you Retro, and he's pretty local to you too. No guarantees and all that but I'll give it my best shot.

Still makes it 300% better than driving an 80s Escort or Astra.
