Someone's pride and joy circa 40 years ago - note the extras like plastic hood flaps or sunroof. It also sports the old-fashioned international oval sticker, which is newer, because it says CZ (Czech Republic) and not CS (Czechoslovakia). Almost pristine condition as seen yesterday.

Speaking of November 1989 and the fall of The Curtain...  Václav Havel, the first post-communist president of Czechoslovakia, drove silver Golf before, during and after the key events. It was saved from Chinese steelworks and fully restored. Note the rag in the glove box. It is official Communist Party propaganda newspaper "Rudé právo", meaning something like "Red Justice" or "Red Law". Generally known as "Red Injustice/Lawlessness".
