No, I meant the one visible over the Cortina's a-pillar. Still reckon it's a Valiant

when I came across this picture a while back I was grinning no end, because I have a m8 from Manchester who utterly hates invacars, (partly probably because I wont shut up about them :) ) so I was grinning like a mad man as i sent him that photograph

I tend to agree.  Those rear lights seem to be on 1966/7 models and on some export versions.  Plymouth Barracudas of that period also sported very similar rear lights but they did not appear to have produced a sedan, only fastbacks and coupes.  Their version of the Valiant had different rear lights.

Is that Syd Barrett sitting beside the rear quarter panel?

Yes.

Cool! Is that Roger Waters inside the car?

Do you mean the one snorting coke or the other one?

Could be. He looks about to vomit.

That bloke just chillin with the faded green shirt won't be happy.

What's the bronze saloon between the Mini and Escort van? Chrysler Valiant?

Correct.

An Aussie Valiant Regal or VIP. Somebody had a fairly unsucsessful  try at selling them in UK

Yes, it was Chrysler UK tried that.   Supposed to have offered Super Snipe and Hawk buyers a replacement but most of them chose to die instead when the cars needed replacing.......

Quite a while ago I remember seeing a picture of Larry Grayson standing in front of a new Valiant in a Rootes showroom somewhere. It would have been in Popular Classics or Practical Classics more years ago than I want to think about

Looks like a scene from a film from around 1971 ( Vanishing Point / Easy Rider / Two Lane Blacktop, etc.), but it's the Hocus Pocus V8 Capri posted in today's Ebay Tat thread before it was painted red. (Pics here are not from the ad listing).
