Yes, I think it must have been done for real as the ad is from 1969 so it's not a MK2 bonnet either. A bit like those badgeless cars from insurance adverts I guess.

^^ (From the badge) it's a Vixen from the late 80s, powered by a BMW td engine. Some interesting info if you google BMW Vixen, I had never seen these before.

Apparently they could do 100mph, sort of a high-speed chrystal-meth-lab.

 

Tiny headlamps for such a high performance vehicle given all the possible headlamp options and space available.

Front end. Used to be parked up on Sackville Rd in Hove; only one I've ever seen. Never moved; showing as SORN on DVLA site (with MOT expired since 2008). Weird big bugger of a thing. Marina doorhandles FTW?
