On the subject of these badge-engineered vans, what's the really short wheelbase Mk1 Ducato called?

edit, found the model name via an eBay parts search. It's the Talento. I saw a UK reg LHD camper version a few years ago, it looked ridiculous.

1992/3 I think.

my Talbot Express was L985 FEL - 1994 reg.

Was it a camper? If so, it will be due to the chassis being registered before the body was fitted. If not. Bloody hell!

I do know of a L plated CF chassis cab with a Holden 3.3 6 pot with Auto Box in it. Was originally going to be an ambulance, it arrived late, the order got cancelled, and was made into a bloody quick camper.

Anyone seen one of these in the UK? I assume this was done by a coachbuilder or such like:

That would be the same chassis set up they supplied to the motorhome firms so it might be a factory body. I'm sure I've seen them before

A place I worked for used to buy chassis cabs, send them off then, to have the rear extension removed, and an AL-KO chassis bolted up

A family friend used to sell cars for Vincents in Yeovil who were an Austin/ BL dealer from the 50's through to the early '90's. Apparently selling stuff in the 70's was easy enough. Not everyone trusted foriegn muck and there was healthy demand for BL cars, but they were on strike so often that delivery times were a joke. BL shared the top ten with Ford don't forget.

He went to a BMW dealer in '79 and never looked back. I think he was there for about 12 years before retiring so he had the best years for both manufacturers.

I never 'got' Talbot /Chrysler stuff. They just never had any real character.

The Talbot Express/Fiat ducato was first released to the british public at the uk Motorshow in the nec in october 1982 and the first ones were indeed registered on the y plate. If i can recall the styling was done by the talbot boys in coventry...if you look at the wheelarch profiles of an express in comparison to a tagora their virtually identical!!! :D:D

The company I worked for in the mid-90s had one, it was K-reg. Can't remember what make though, possibly Citroen as the company cars were XMs.
