Anyone done a pug 106 fanbelt?

Just had a call from a mate, the fanbelt on his pug 106 has broken! Its an 8v petrol motor, has anyone done one of these? Is it possible to replace one in a layby with a basic toolkit?

On an AX it was straightforward. Long time ago but I think it was a couple of bolts and the wheel brace to give a bit of extra leverage

I'm assuming you've got it done by now, but on an 8v its a piece of piss. 16v is not bad, but more fiddly.

Won't it have an electric fan, etc.?

Should be pretty straightforward if it doesn't have anything fancy like A/C which usually involves nasty serpentine belts on Peugeots.

Until I read the replies,

I thought that this had only ever been attempted by main dealers.

Yep, its been done! A mate of mine had had to abandon his 106 in a layby and had rang me to see if it was a DIY job...I didn't know but said yes anyway. He got his £10 tool kit and a new belt and did the job himself. Yay!
