At the car boot sale today i got three copies of something called Jalopy, and i noticed that its a sort of "autoshite - the mag"

 

Has anybody else ever seen this mag, as i have never seen it before (guessing its a limited run)

 

It has some 'interesting' articles, like how to buy a mk1 Escort for £90

Yeah, I've got a few copies tucked away in my vast collection of shite. 'Twas good, but not that long lived, and had a vague connection to the Used Motorcycle Guide - which was more of the same on two wheels.

There was a thread recently about much missed magazines - these and more were mentioned there.

I've got one copy of Jalopy (August 1992) that my brother bought many years ago and one of the headlines on the front is 'Marvellous Marina'. You can't get more Autoshite than that.

Jalopy is teh nuts. If you ever want to get rid, I'm sure half this forum will fight with spanners for them.

I bought 3 of the magazines in the 1990s. The main feature of the first one i bought (from an obsure newsagents in Great Yarmouth, of all places) was A5 sized about the Fraud Cortina range. At that time, I was starting to find modern cars of that era rather yawn-inducing & I had the horn for the mark III Cortina (especially in 2000E guise). I had to have that magazine so shelled out most of my pocket money there and then!

 

The second one was also A5 sized and had a Citroen GS on the front. The 3rd was A4 sized & had a rotten Capri mark I on the the cover. Think I bought that from WH Smiths.

 

Sadly, the 3 jalopy mags got flogged on eBay in around 2006. Did anyone on this forum buy 'em??

Happily they went to a fello shiter - Mr Scruff
