Great suff, looks great, thanks Blakey.

Was wondering, would it be possible to look at how images display in a post, as most of them disappear under the avatar panel, only if/when you get the time.

Oh, I like your avatar!

Cheers mate.

Can't see what in mac/safari? The banner?

What can you see, the old banner?

Changing images should not have any cross browser problems. Might just need to flush your browser cache out or refresh a few times.

@lord sterling

Had a quick look at some posts. Not really seen any evidence of pictures disappearing under avatar panel.

Could you provide a link to a post where it is happening?

Also, what is your screen resolution on your pc?

...it still has phpbb on the corner.

This is what I'm seeing, plus "www.autoshite.com" and "Your motoring is our concern" to the right of that. No pics of old chod, though

I did some logging in and out and some reloading the page so I'm guessing it might be a cache thing...

I get the half the pics have disappeared under the avatar, but only on about 20% of posts with pics... you lost me on the resolution thing though

Blakey, I too am having the pictures cut off on the right-hand side. They mostly all look like this now

Other than that, top work getting the forum back up and all lovely and beigey again. Banner is working fine for me too.

Blakey, like Barrett this is what I'm seeing:

ScrenRes800x600.jpg

The picture is cut off from the right-hand side, the old forum used to resize itself according to size of pic and resolution from user.

Its not happening with any particular post, it happens with all of them, some people can see the whole pic fine, some, like me, Barrett and Louise cant.

This is what the image should look like (Assuming you can see the whole car)

My screen resolution is 800x600 any more and I get a headache trying to read posts. My screen is a pretty old CRT.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again Blakey.

You lost me on the whole resolution thing

Louise, to see your resolution, assuming your on Windows, right-click on the desktop, a small list should appear, select 'properties' at the bottom of the list, pick 'settings' from the tabs at the top, and you should see a small sliding scale with "Screen Resolution" near the bottom left-hand side.

Hope this helps.

Blimey! My mate's dad's old 204! Been in that car a few times - is it still with us?

Haven't noticed the images being occluded by the avatar panel.

On the old forum I did find many of the images were too big and forced horizontal scrolling in all browsers and both operating systems, made some threads a pain in the arse to try and read, gave up on a lot of them.

1280x1024 on both monitors.

It's now part of the Bickle tat collection, as seen here

Thanks - good to know it's in safe hands 8)

Can't see it on Mac/Safari... :?

This is because Safari is shit.

I spent a good half hour hammering keys yesterday for Safari to do bugger all, yet Chrome worked perfectly.

Guess what got uninstalled?

Seems to be OK now, if what I should be seeing is a green Sceptre, an orange Daf 55, and a blue R15.

And after a recommendation like that, I'm going to try Chrome! :D

I've looked into this issue of pictures being cut off on the right hand side, and it seems to be an unfortunate coincidence of changes to phpbb from the old version 2 to the new version 3, and also people with small screen monitor resolutions.

In phpbb 2, avatars were on the left, and any large pictures execess could go off on the right, which also looks shit, and is annoying to navigate, as you then have horizontal and verical scrollbars. PHPBB3 however, has avatars on the right, as as a result, doesn't allow any overflow from the post on the left hand side. This seems to get mentioned a bit on the phpbb forum, and on a few picture heavy forums, but doesn't seem to be a serious problem.

Most people, myself included (not that I ever actually use Autoshite myself, i just get pressganged into save it and fix it up every few months!), don't usually have a problem with this, as their screen resolutions are at least 1280 pixels wide, and most people keep their picture posts at a size where they fit into the left hand post.

Neither of the two causes for this problem is actually a fault or problem with the forum, so i won't be providing a fix for it.

A couple of suggestions though.

People should try and make sure that the images that they post are not enormous. If you want to post a hi-res image for people to see detail, post it as a clickable link so that people can view the hi-res version outside of the constrains of the forums layout. I believe there is a sticky regarding how to post images.

People with low resolution monitors. If you are using a monitor that is still 800 x 600 then you are in a very small minority. Most modern monitors are at least 1280 x 800. Most websites these days aren't even built for that size screen. I can't imagine Autoshite is the only site that you would have problems viewing and navigating.

Other than just stating the bleeding obvious, that maybe you should buy a new monitor, which is fine if you have the money to do so, the only other thing that i can suggest is that if you hold down the Ctrl button and tap the - (minus or dash) button then it zooms the browser view out so you can see the whole photo. Holding down ctrl and tapping the + button reverses the process.

Hope this helps
