Fancied a change from the usual subarus and also wanted something to dissapear for weekends away in,fancied vw but didnt fancy the prices of the campers at the moment...so after a night of drunken bidding on ebay,a lost auction and a second chance offer later i ended up with this....

Its been owned by the same guy as his busines van for pretty much all of its life,used but serviced regularly too...bodys not pretty but its solid and all there,its 2.0 flat four,ive replaced the rocker cover gaskets and it went through its mot no problems....

Ideal as i can kit it out how i want,full width rock and roll bed is 150quid off ebay...sorted!!

I did yeh,didnt know what i had bought till it got delivered the day after :shock: luckily its turned out to be fine.... :D

Nice. These tend to fall into two camps - hideously twee Devon campers or Scene Tax slam-mobiles. Great to see one that's neither!

Im going to keep mine pretty much the way it is externally,will get the primer'd bits resprayed but thats only to keep the rust at bay,other than that its staying stock,none of that lowering and matt black paint for me thankyou very much :wink:

Where I used to work we had two diesel pickups, I remember one arriving in 86 to replace a bay-window version. This model was actually quite good to drive, more than I can say for the bay! Skimpy interior though, as you've found. Good luck with it, I have an inexplicable soft spot for this shape VW.

Tell me about it,i spent ages looking for the blower switch for the demister only to be slightly put out when told there isnt one.....thats going to be interesting in the winter :lol:
