25v6turbo Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I know they are trouble BUT this was a lot of car for the money, you could break this and get your money back,SHOULD of bid on it DAMM....http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... egory=9861
wuvvum Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Bloody hell, you're not wrong there. That would be a wonderful machine when it was working.
Pillock Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 What a glorious three minutes they would have been But yeah, these days breaking it is financially sensible.... there's some daft prices on interior bits and bobs so I'm told, a few hundred quid for an armrest and stuff and people do pay it. Still, for one that's working.... £1300 for an '04 waft-o-barge! It'd be like going to work without getting out of bed
25v6turbo Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Don,t rub it in,but it wasn,t taxed, only had 1 keycard,a couple of electrical issues but no stonechips and most service history even if it blew up on the way home i guess you might get your money back on parts??
Milford Cubicle Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Isn't that V6 a Nissan engine? Everything that surrounds it is early '00s-era Renault though. Eek
Station Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 The Vel Satis was made in the Matra factory, and due to fairly low sales, led to the closure of the factory and (I think) Matra.
chaseracer Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Wasn't that the Avantime?Yes - the Vel Satis was made at Sandouville, near Le Havre, at the old 25 plant.
25v6turbo Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 This car had done 75k in 2 years i checked at work and had a lot of warrenty claims, but not a huge amount. Avantime was Matra.
Station Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Wasn't that the Avantime?Yeah, I'm just talking shite.
Negative Creep Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Even for a large Renault, I can't believe how little it's worth after 6 years
scooters Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Even for a large Renault, I can't believe how little it's worth after 6 yearsah - but the Vel Statis was a notoriously shite - but wonderful- car Renner taking the mantle of "Bonjour Monsieur Lobster, have you seen my hatstand and - by golly is that a citroen you are designing on the back of that fag packet? - now where did I put that empty margarine box?" from Citroen/Pug for outrageously french car design - well eet is perfect and eef it dos not work then ce la vie at least we tried!
dollywobbler Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The Vel Satis is the absolute ultimate in modern shite. Was speaking to an owner of one earlier - some of the recent bills are truly eye-watering. They seem rare already - with their costs, they can only disappear entirely. Future super-shite perhaps.

Future super-shite perhaps. The inheritor of the Tagora's mantle, perhaps?Without a doubt. Closely followed by the new Shitroen C5 trouble with the Velsatis is, it just smacks of something that was cobbled together out of the parts bin and not very well thought out. I mean just look at the dial cluster lifted straight out of a megane. Shame.
dollywobbler Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Aye. Tomorrow's Tagora! It isn't Renault's best effort. I guess I don't like the back story either - it was conceived to battle against the Avantime which is pretty nasty for poor Matra. Why on earth Renault decided to do battle with its own car I guess we'll never know, but it ultimately led to them being able to make Escaces themselves for the first time.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Velcro Satis and Avantime aren't listed in Glass' Guide or CAP 51 plate last of the line Safrane 2.5 Auto 20v Executive with 120'000 miles books at..... .......... £125. You have to admit that's value - a LOT of trouble for the money.
dollywobbler Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 From what I've heard, things fail (like injector pumps) and cost a fortune (£5000 at dealer rates, £1400 if you find the right bloke) to replace. Oh, and the electrics make my CX seem robust on that count!

One for the 'late registration madness' thread.

Station Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Just looked at the link and that is beaut, such a stunning looking car!
simmo Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 The trade call these Vel Statics There's one around Newbury tha's a taxi
Alpineandy Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 From what I've heard, things fail (like injector pumps) and cost a fortune (£5000 at dealer rates, £1400 if you find the right bloke) to replace. Oh, and the electrics make my CX seem robust on that count! On all models?I think they do 2 oilburners (a 2.2dci and a V6)and 2 petrols (a 2 litre & a V6).Do they all have issues?Auto box & Manuals? IIRC someone on here got a very cheap one some time back (one of the east anglia boys?) but I haven't noticed it being discussed on here.
25v6turbo Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 51 plate Safrane no way... Latest i,ve ever seen is on a V plate never that late?
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I thought the later V6 Safrane ditched the Ovlov PRV V6 and replaced it with the Renaulgh V6 (as did the Lagoona) ?
wuvvum Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 IIRC someone on here got a very cheap one some time back (one of the east anglia boys?)That was Ratdat. It was a V6 DCi if memory serves - not the least troublesome of engines...
25v6turbo Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 You couldn,t buy a phase 2 V6 in england(24v v6 in france though!) Obnly phase 1 had a v6(my car)and the phase 2 used the volvo 5 cylinder unit in the 2.5 20v.
