What's the shortest you've ever owned a car for?

I had this this for about 12 months until I crashed it in April 2001...

However it looks like my Scrote diesel will be even shorter by several months as I will either buy my sister's Ashtray soon or wait until after my flat sale goes through and buy an un-shite car with some of the equity.

I owned a D reg Belmont for about 2 days - I bought it for £90 with tax and MOT and swapped it for a Alfa 33. In hindsight it was a foolish thing to do.

In terms of driving, that would be my old Datsun 120A coupe, I drove it from Reading to Abingdon - some 35 or so miles and then stored it for 7 years.

Lancer GLXi for about a week, bought it as a trade in at the garage where I worked for £150 and a few days later a guy wanted a car for his dad and offered me £500. Was a no brainer really.

Hmmm. I guess for me, in terms of driving. I've owned a G-reg Rover Sterling since 2008, I've only driven it up a driveway a few yards, it was then towed to its storage where it has been standing since. I really need start doing something with that car.

For driving, a 1978 Allegro bought at a farm sale for £25 in 1999. Got trailered to a mate's barn , I drove it around a field once, then broke it up for the 1300 A series powarrhh for a friend's Mini about a year later.

It was chocolate brown - the classic Allegro 2 colour.

Actually thinking about it, I only owned my MK3 Fiesta for one month and 20 illegal miles

Clio Williams for approx 1 month, when I realised it was a bit of a poor example.

1973 Triumph Toledo, bought for £20 in Leeds, driven to Bracknell where a random bloke in a pub asked me whether I'd sell it to him, took £250 for it there and then, which covered the bus fare home nicely. I'd owned it for precisely 9 Hours.

The slightly harder part was explaining to the other half where the car I'd promised to buy her for her birthday had vanished to, but I found her a '71 Renault 12 the very next day for under £80 with a year's test so I was forgiven.

Going slightly off tangent, does anyone else find ordinary people don't get the concept of changing and buying cars repeatedly? I told the people at work I'd owned 21 in 8 years and bought the Cortina for a laugh and got some very odd looks

The shortest length of time I've ever had a car is 7 months - I tend to run them for years, knowing I've kept them in good fettle and they'll do me alright for a good while longer. I think it's a case of me not ever understanding the whole 'got to get a new car and keep up with the Joneses' thing.

The last time it was car change time I couldn't bear to part with the old one, so I kept it and persuaded my sister to let me keep it in her garage. It cost me a new garage door (the old one was so knackered you couldn't have got a car under it), but I kept a car that is rapidly heading for Shiterdom on the road, so big smiles.

About the time it took to drive four miles is the shortest I've owned a car.I bought the car with a short MOT and crusty sills with the intension of putting a fresh MOT on it and selling it on.Took a mate with me to drive it home.

The car in question was a Talbot Horizon.Must have been a 1500 as it had electric front windows and little green lights around the speedo that acted as a rev counter. It was these lights that sold it to my mate. When we got home he jumped out and almost begged me to sell it to him.Bought for 30 quid and sold for £70 without even driving the thing.
