Make mine the Crown Vic! Now that's a PROPER copcar! 5.0V8, basically Mustang suspension but bigger, RWD on a genuine lift-the-body-off chassis. I'll take it.

Loving that blue and grey ambulance, is it a Daimler?

Yes it is - well spotted

More to come - nearly finished.

That's right; then a Bedford, a type you still see over here as a general truck; and a Humber. Marvellous set of ambulances, cue Sir Lancelot Spratt!

Those fire engines look a little cramped-up though. This is a transport museum, surely they know? Fire engines are the size of buses, you need bus spaces.

And ooh, more Americans! M'sieu l'ambassadeur, you are spoiling us!

Cracking shots. Thank for sharing. Love the Daimler and Humber Super Snipe. Love the rear wiper on the Jag X300 too...

Cracking pics. My Sis lives a stone throw from Crich tram museum. I'll have to have a visit.

Tootles was a favourite of mine as a nipper too. I still have the moth eared copy in the loft.....

Great pics there. Is the Vectra in the first pic a Diplomatic Protection car?

Love the wheel chocks on the Green Goddess. All four, just to be sure.

Any idea what the story is with the grey Bedford 'O' type box van? I don't recognise the 'NFS' logo, maybe it was before my time.

That was a distribution vehicle for the little-known, early driving game "Need For Speed:Sidevalve"

I think the Commer fire engine is my favourite. Nicely styled even though its a working vehicle.

History: New in March 2001, this car was based at SO16 (Diplomatic Protection Group), at Yeoman's Row. It was later withdrawn and used as a DPG training vehicle at RAF Uxbridge and Feltham, until June 2007.
